Rumble Route - So Cal --> Paso Robles
#34
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it. I would have voted for #2 though. I'm definitely in for the next Malibu run. I'm really bummed I'm gonna miss this as last years Rumble was a lot of fun and it seems that this years is gonna be even better. Oh well, next year.

And then there were 14.
Does anyone have local knowledge of Soda Lake Rd - I'd like to know if it really exists and/or isn't a dirt fire road. It would not be the first time that MapQuest said that there was a road that didn't exist. I'd hate for us to get there only to find that "there is no there there" and we end up taking the 33 all the way to the 58 or 46.
Perhaps someone who has access to government satilite technology or the latest maps can fill us in without breaking any classified information sharing protocol that you would then have to "eliminate" me for.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I was also going to make a cold call to a business (perhaps a Chevron station) in California City to see if any locals could tell me, unless a Kern Co. RL'er wants to scout it out.

I'm in. #2 sounds like more fun but I'll be driving conservatively anyways (can't get another ticket). Hopefully we'll have a good supply of radios and radar detectors!

Back to 15! Welcome edrewitz, none of us wants a ticket and we'll be driving accordingly as we are on public (though hopefully mostly empty) roads. See you there. We monitor Chanel 1 (no sub-chanel). I have 3 extra radios (which usually get borrowed).

Viewing the route from these two sites gives some interesting perspectives. It appears that Soda Lake Rd exists.
