Default video: 993 and other Porsches

This is a slightly experimental video. You'll see what they try to do at the end. I'm not sure what the makers are trying to achieve as the cars are not pushing equally hard. Anyway, very nice clear HD footage:

A similar one here: http://www.trapster.net/videos/pia-in-sync-2.wmv

And a CGT taking off hard here : http://www.trapster.net/videos/pia-trailer-HD.wmv

Man, that's a good shot of a 993 next to a 997. The 993 looks like the newer car...

That's exactly what I was thinking. Until the 997 and 993 turned the corner, I thought both were 997s.

did you follow the instructions on the site re: obtaining codec and WMP 9 if you experience choppy?

Thanks Ben. Just read it...looks like my laptop can't support the HD format.

Cool videos...but what are they trying to show? That given the same speed the GT doesn't handle worth a damn and squeals the tires like there is no tomorrow?

how can you tell if the speeds were the same? i "highly" doubt that is the case. videos rarely if ever remotely translate true speed to the film. you could look at the leipzig factory CGT track videos on porsche web site and you'll be hard pressed to get a sense of how crazy fast they are going (i rode around leipzig in them piloted by le mans winners and it was unreal fast). besides, it looks to me like the CGT driver is just playing for the camera with the sliding. to make an argument that a 993,6, or 7 can corner at remotely the same speeds as a CGT is beyond comical and borders on the very dilusional.

When the videos are overlapped at the end, the CGT does seem to be going significantly faster.

The CGT is clearly going faster, plus it has ALOT of power, give it a little gas and doesn't take much for the rear to come out....err....fish tail....curvy road...rock wall...$400K car. One crazy driver.

I agree with you 100% It is obvious that the CGT is going faster, and it is obvious that will outhandle any of the other 3 cars..that is exactly my point...so...What is the purpose of the video? What are they trying to show? Any guesses?

I thought the same thing, why have one burn rubber and the others stay off it? Either way I guess it was just a video experiment, maybe with the GT going faster the end shot of it running past the others shows speed. I don't know but to me it was interesting to see the 997 and 993 come down the same road looking so similar. Shows how undated the 993 is, of course I'm heavily biased as you would guess.
