Default Car Guys

On Saturday I was pressure cleaning my roof with a friend of mine, (I wont be doing that again!!). Anyway after i get off the roof i notice my neighbor is in his garage with his brand new C-6 on jack stands. I walk in there and say "Hey Gary, what are you up to?".

Gary responds..."Just a little cleaning work". As I look over he has the front passenger wheel off of the car, the fender liner removed and he is working on his suspension and brake caliper with a toothbrush.

I looked at him, smiled and said "Man, your making me look bad". He responds, "The jack is right over there and I have an extra set of stands"

Moral of the story...I don't care what your vehicular passion may be but we car guys are all alike.

Sorry, but no. I prefer to drive mine, not clean it (those who've seen my car or seen me drive would understand).

Mike,

Good story. The nice thing about Flordia is you can clean your car the way your neighbor did and it actually stays clean for a while. I've been known to clean the BELLY of the airplane with a toothbrush - damn rivets - the dimpled areas acculmulate grease and grime.

I agree, being a fan of older Mercedes I frequent Mercedesshop.com quite often and find many like minded individuals on both forums, and to some extent Ferrarichat. I guess as long as the passion is there thats whats important. (Except Japanese cars- never understood the attraction to them )

Really? Do they shine any less? Or are they less of an p-extender?

How would you feel if your doors were blown off at an autocross course or at the track by a car at 1/4 the price? Or is it not why we own allaged _sports_ cars?

No, sorry, I don't get it.

I spent a half hour this morning at the Boise Idaho coin car wash, getting about a quarter pound of bugs off. Brought all my wash stuff with me. This after an 800 mile drive from home with my son, to watch the Bogus Basin PCA Hillclimb. Met Leland Pate, Rennlister from Great Falls MT, who did the event in his '95 993. Will post pics when I get home in 5 days and about 3K miles, via Kallispell MT and Eugene OR. Probably another wash or two before I get home.

I would be cleaning everyday given all the dirt that's around here. I have two semi-annual all out cleaning with two of my friends.

Not at all. I currently own a japanese race car and two german street cars, including a 993. Why am I supposed to be sensitive, again, pray tell?

Jonathan.....classic. If I had a nickel everytime my wife said that. I giggled when I read your statement then made my wife read it so that she understands that I'm not the only SOB who has "tone" problems on occasion.

Nile - my comment was not intended to offend anyone specifically. That said most I have talked to many including Japanese car nuts agree that most production models have less "soul" or character than European cars do. I would think that most everyone in here can identify with what I am refering to. I would suspect that your Japanese race car is different than most production ones I have had contact with. What I was reffering to has nothing to do with #'s of any sort. Anyways I said was I didn't understand the attraction, not that one didnt exist for some people.
