DMF = 13.6kg (30lb)
MWF = 8.6kg (19lb)
LWF = 5.5kg (12lb)

Any reason to consider the 19lb MWF if one is thinking of doing the LWF? Advantages/disadvantages?

The only difference I know of is the mid-weight flywheel won't stall a MY95, aurally I think they are the same.

For the MWF, Andial machines an extra piece and bolts it to a LWF to add 7 lbs. It cost more than a LWF because you start with a LWF and add the machining cost. They told me they custom machine each one for each LWF.

when I spoke to Andial about the middle vs. LWF, I got the impression that the middle variety was only needed for the '95s. I have absolutley no stalling problems with the LWF and would recommend it as a great upgrade. The tiny bit of additional noise that can be heard at a stop with the car in neutral and the clutch out is nothing compared to the overall benefits of the LWF - just my $.02.

BTW, if you listen to the radio in your car, you will not hear any noise - it is a faint mechanical sound that is only heard with the winows down and radio off. I actually kind of like it.

If you are concerned about potentially stalling I wouldn't even bother with the Andial midweight flywheel, they are way over priced and you can buy a non-machined MWF directly from Porsche, part number 964-102-239-00

Jason,

Will that also fit the 964? If so, I'm sure they'd be interested after the last couple of threads regarding the LWF! Any idea as to the cost of the MWF from Porsche? Can you use an standard clutch or only the RS unit?

Yes, the midweight flywheel is actually from a MY89 964 C4.

MWF 964-102-239-00 $324.67USD
LWF 964-102-239-31 $403.32USD

The price is about half what the DMF sells for.

There is no driveline dampening with a MWF so I'm guessing you really don't want a solid centered clutch disc. The RS uses a spring centered clutch and I think the MY89 used a rubber centered clutch.

HI,
sourced one in the UK (europarts), sunset were not on for shipping.

Any idea what clutch kit/ other parts I now need for 95 993 C4?
Posts seem to say use std 993 pressure plate, not sure about the rest.

Default MWF Options and Package

Have a MY95 so the LWF stalling may become a factor. I understand that there are a couple of ways to deal with this but am considering the MWF option to avoid the problem. Couple of questions:

- If the Andial MWF has an addtional piece bolted on a LWF is it possible to install the MWF and later remove the added piece to covert it to a LWF? Maybe need to re-balance it without added piece?

- Understand the that the 964 MWF may not be two separate pieces like Andial, but did not see any response to the question re: clutch parts for it. Can the clutch package for the 993 LWF be used with the 964 MWF?
