Default 3 questions about the Krikit belt tensioning tool

Hi everyone,
I replaced the 3 belts on my '95 two weeks ago, and must not have gotten the tension correct, because I get a strange humming noise between 3000 and 3200 RPM. I bought the "Krikit I" tool from Napa last night, but have a few questions:

1) Do I need to position the flat contact area of the Krikit (right below the pushbutton) to sit right in the middle of belt's span between pulleys, or does the whole tool itself need to be centered in the belt span?

2) I'm assuming the "scale increments" referred to in the factory manual are talking about the KG scale on the Kriket...correct?

3) Should I test the tension with hot or cold belts? I assume hot because the instructions say idle the car, but want to be sure.

Thank you fellow Krikiteers.

Colin ,
You lay the entire Krikit on the belt.

Dudley, thanks for the link; it was very helpful.

The only thing it didn't answer was about the "scale increments" referred to in the factory manual. Are these increments Kilograms?

Yes, IIRC, the settings are in kilograms.
