Default Porsche 993 Nurburgring Lap Time

Does anyone know the Porsche 993 Carrera (272 BHP) Nurburgring Lap Time? My friend has just bought a Nissan 350Z and he tells me that it can lap the Nurburgring in 8 Mins 26 Seconds. Does anyone know the time for the 993?[COLOR=Black]

The times are hard to take seriously without some sort of supervision. There are too many variables: amount of traffic on the track, weather, is the car on R-compound tires, is the vehicle modified, was there a passenger in the car, honesty, etc.

Did your friend find that time in a chat room?

There are also different loops which can be included, so the distance needs to be quoted too.

I'll start with this time:

lap distance: 20,832 km
time: 8,17
average speed: 151 km/h
car: Porsche 993 Carrera 4
driver: Nils Baker
date: 1997

from http://www.esma.no/nordschleife.html

Maybe someone can find a better time.

Fastest 993 variant:

20,832 km 7,46 = 161 km/h shk-Fahrzeugtechnik Porsche 993 GT2 652 ps, 812 Newtonmeter, Horst von Saurma, Sport Auto 1999.

There's a table here, for what it's worth: http://forums.germancarfans.com/zero...&postid=171759

It has the same 8:26 time and posts 8.28 for the 993, but as Graham says it's pretty useless without a lot more data. For instance, if I drive vs if Walter Rohrl or Hans Stuck drive...

Thanks Graham,

I don't know where my friend got his info from and yes there are a lot of factors to take in.

The 8,17 time quoted for the Porsche 993 Carrera 4 would be quicker on a dry track in a Carrera 2 as the car is lighter. Of course In the wet I guess the C4 would be quicker.

Just out of interest I did find this interesting web site on 0-60 MPH and 1/4 Mile times.

http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

By the way, I have been looking at getting my car chipped, have you considered this?

Thanks Again

Michael

It is a very common and successful mod. You will find a lot of info in the archives. I haven't gotten round to it yet - thanks for the reminder

If I were you I would talk to 9m and some of the other reputable independent tuners in the UK.
