Shift replacement, Is it difficult?

Default Shift replacement, Is it difficult?

I am thinking about buying and installing this new shifter. Is it difficult to install?

the old one pulls off, and the new one just pushes on. however, the fit is very tight, so it is a bit of a challenge.

The base of the leather boot has a rigid wire running around it that is secured under the center console by a couple of clips. Pulling the actual shift **** off the shifter is easy, just give a good tug. But as Crimson said, the bottom is a bit more difficult to get out. It's much easier to remove it if you remove the center console, but you can do it by prying up the bottom of the shift boot. Here's a pic taken from Robin site:
