993 therapy...

Chris-
So sorry to hear of your loss. My family is struggling through my moms recovery from a quadruple bypass. She has been on a ventilator for almost a month!. My prayers are with you...as far as the therapy, do whatever gives you solace and what better place to get it than from a 993!

You discovered one way to make you feel better, you want to know one even better than that?
Take that yellow beast out for a good long drive, do it over the weekend when there's no traffic.
Start really early, before six at least and just blast on a twisty roads (I'm sure you can find something around there) and while the sun is raising up, keep them revs high and brakes warm, let that flat six scream for joy of driving fast.
Then stop at some nice very quiet place where you can see the sun coming up.
Take a look at the hot air coming through the rear lid and making waves in front of that sun, listen the exhaust "ticking" , think about stuff and let the bad feeling come out.
Then smile because your grandma has been watching you all morning blasting through those roads, seeing the sadness fading little and she's happy to see you, smiling.

Grandma always worried about me driving my Porsche at track events (DE, autox etc.) Every year, when I would visit her, I always brought in-car video from the latest track events. She, sometimes, was afraid to watch, but enjoyed them, nonetheless..
ALL, thank you for your thoughts and words. Very much appreciated!

Chris ....my heartfelt condolences. It is always disheartening to lose a close family member. Please remember the grip of grieving will loosen over time and along the way your yellow friend will provide you with a great deal of comfort....in the same way you contemplate your 993 hobby during quiet times, or in the middle of the night when you can't get back to sleep for a million different reasons, rest assured that one of the reasons for yellowboys existence in your life is to provide solace...it will be especially forthcoming, IMHO, in these times..
BTW its a beauty!

Chris, Sorry to hear of your loss. I never knew my Grandparents too well, they lived far away and died when I was young. When my Father died a couple years back I thought it was unlucky but I always thought of others who had lost their fathers much sooner. I also thought how lucky I had been to have had such a great father for the time he was alive. I suspect you must feel the same way about your grandmother, concentrating on how lucky you were to have had such a nice grandmother might help a lot. All the best to you.

Sorry, chris - that kind of news is never good. Hopefully the warm memories of your relationship with your grandmother will carry you through this and outweigh the sadness of her not being here. Sometimes that can be a gift in itself and one you'll have forever. Not many people have that kind of relationship.

Chris,
I'm glad you have wonderful memories with your Grandmother.
My Grandmother is 96 years old and still lives independently in Pebble Beach CA. Her time on this earth will soon come to an end, but I am so lucky to have wonderful memories with her.
Many of these memories are driving up HWY-1 to visit her, trying to explain to her about latest incarnation of what I am driving, or making sure my visit coincided with the historic races at Laguna Seca and the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. Many memories, and for some reason many to do with cars.
My condolences and think about the wonderful times you shared.

Chris,
Comforting words are hard to find at times like these. If you can swing the time off, drive the 993 to Colorado for the services. That may make the trip less gloomy. The hills should be green all the way.
God bless and may you find peace. We will pray for you. You just reminded me about my thoughts on mortality.
Take care.

Chris,
My best to you and your family. Indeed, in difficult times like these, we find comfort in the oddest of places. I think it is the solitude along with the comfort we find in familiar things that can sometimes make the difference. Take care of yourself, your family, and remember, too, in the coming days to celebrate and relish the life you shared with your grandmother. And share those moments with the ones you love.
