I wanted to guage interest on a group buy for a pair of full leather Recaro topline seats. The seats are all leather and this includes full power and heat (comfort package).
We need 5 orders.
FVD, a rennlist sponsor, has quoted me $2724 per set and this includes mounting bracket kit. This price is 25% retail. Im in, so now we need another 4 people.
Please let me know indications of firm interest.
thanks.

david-
there is a recent thread on "where to find sport seats" - i believe that mr. sullivan posted a few pics on that threat (i dont know how to insert a link to a thread).
also, goto the recaro website and you will find the seats under sport seats.
These are the seats that Techart and gemballa are offering for their 2-piece sport seats and they are now OEM in one of the aston martin cars. Im told this is a savings of 25%.

How about the Recaro Sport "non-TopLine". This is without the all the optional heating/venting/power stuff. Based on the Recaro website, the difference is about $400 per seat and would be lighter weight.
Anyone in the SF Bay Area have these installed or know where they are on display somewhere?

arenared- im sure we can get FVD to honor the quantity for a non-comfort package as well. Just find a place to try the seats and let me know. I believe another rennlist also wanted the seat w/o the heated option. The recaro site should have a list of dealers in your area

Does the heat plug into the existing connection for people with heated seats currently in their p-car? Also, do you know if they sit higher or lower than the stock 996 seat? It would be GREAT if they sit lower, as I don't really have enough room for the helmet and my 6'3" body.
Thanks
Chris

Arenared,
I'm right in the middle of the install now. I'm putting in Recaro Sportline(manual Blk cloth) seats in my C2S. I'll post some pictures once I have them both in hopefully by Saturday. I have the driver side in and I really like them, Yes they aren't electric but they are definitely lighter and feel alot better than the stock supple seats.

chris- the heat will still work as the heating unit is within the seat itself, so it just plugs into the cars power.
Im not certain that the seat will be lower than 996 seats, but it should as these seats fit properly into a 993 and 996 seats fit high due to different rails, so they should be a bit lower.

Rob,
Sorry...this was a tough call, but in the end I decided to purchase the black sport seats from a local friend and rennlister (JASTX). These are in beautiful new condition and I am excited to get them in my car soon. They are a little heavier than the Toplines, and probably not quite as supportive/nice. However, they are in mint condition with crests in the headrests. They were original to the 993, which for me is a bonus (keeping my car as close to OEM as possible). I think you cant go wrong with theToplines though...this was a very close decision for me. I hope this group buy works out and I suspect all the participants will love the Toplines.

I get the feeling you're probably not local

The Recaro Sports were at the top of my list from doing web research since they look to have pretty good side bolstering and work with OE seatbelts. They also have something called "ball bearing suspension" which, for the life of me, I can't figure out, but it's supposed to provide some sort of vibration isolation. Were you able to figure out what that was and notice any difference?
