Very true.

Noone mentioned that there were no narrow body coupes made for the US in 1998, right? If I am correct, then he is only looking at 95-97 cars.

Additionally, there were not too many 98s brought here, so they are more difficult to find.

I am sure you all will tell me if I am wrong!

I have recently bought my first 993. Before that I had a Boxster and a TVR Griffith.I wanted a car that combined the best of both. I tried many varioram 993's. All the cars I tried 'felt' slower than the Boxster. I had dismissed a non-vario car, but tried a 1995 MY low mileage example. What a little flyer, feels tame up to 4-4500rpm, then just goes, great to drive, bought it. Mine also has the original 16 inch wheels on it. I have to say I really like the way it handles, the way it squirms ot of corners, occaisionally breaks traction in 3rd gear. The higher profile tyres also give a composed ride. Incidentally I had the car tested on a dyno., it was on spec for bhp and 8 lbs/ft over spec for torque.
You need to try both, they are different, get the one that you like the feel of on the road, not how it looks on paper.

Car and Driver tested a 1995 993 Coupe and have always commented in subsequent 993 tests to 1998 that their 1995 993 Coupe was the fastest normally aspirated 993 they had ever tested. At the end of the 1/4 mile it had an trap speed of 104 mph - and I have never seen another Normally aspirated 993 -Varioram ever equal or exceed that performance.

Thats why I picked my 95 993 and I love it.

One thing I've learned from Porsche ownership is no two 911s are exactly alike, to many options! So go with what you find that is in good condition, that's what I did.

They are all used cars so you can't exactly order your dream combo. I agree with most everyone here, 95-98, they're all good!

I don't know anything about 993s, I was just passing through, but if you're looking for a bug free car, I'd suggest buying a 993 from a Rennlist user. I've been very impressed with 90% of the people that post here. Almost everyone here takes care of their cars and fixes problems correctly.

Yes, all 993s (Carrera S and Carrera 4S) designated as model year 1998 in the US were turbo bodied (wide body). And yes, there were no model year 1998 turbos in the US. But this does not mean that the same applies to overseas markets.

Personnally, I prefer the '96. To be more spec, I prefer the one in my garage. For the time I have owned it no problems whatsoever.

Technically incorrect as there were cabs produced in 98.

Personally, the absense of the dreaded immobilizer/alarm in the early '95's were enough for me.

Do a search.

At the end of the day they are all pretty awesome cars. I just consider myself lucky to own one at all.

So may women so little time, why marry them just pass them to the next guy .

Just Kidding ... Im sue you are happy now, if not do a couple mods and stay married, youll find that you save more money.
