"63K range" means less than $63K, two birds in the hand vs. "reserve wasn't met" sounds pretty close. Isn't this about where the market is on these cars? This just all strikes me as wierd.

The 63k range means in the 63k area. One offered me 63k and the other one a small dealer whose owners plans to make it his personal car offered me 63.5k. So no not less then 63k. Your right I did have a lot of dealers offer me 62k and below but I turned them down right away. This are the two offers that are close to what my reserve was but not quite there. I would rather sell to an porsche fanatic though. If not I guess I will let it go to a dealer. I would like to rap something up i a week or so as my deadline is getting close. I have the deposit down on the property but I still need a nice chunk to seal the deal.
Thanks

Cor2nir,
If $63.5k is close to your reserve (< 5%), I would take it, especially if you have had the car on sale for a period of time and no potential buyers yet. I have bought and sold over 10 cars in the last three years and it is difficult selling it privately. I usually trade the car in, so i don't have to worry about showing the cars to potential buyers, this might be different with rennlisters, but in general it is a pain to sell a car privately. Now if these dealers are offering you close to your reserve I would definitely take it. It's just my opinion.

If that's true, that would explain it. A tranny rebuild would probably be at least $3k. Other reasons might include:
1. It sounds like the car bounced around a lot, and that can scare off people.
2. I also have a personal theory about how people get really turned off by tinted windows. Just a theory.
3. The marketing of this car could be greatly improved (no offense intended Corey); i.e. better & more pics, more details, etc.
4. Ad exposure? Is it even listed on Autotrader?
But I agree that $63k would be a good price for this car if it had no serious issues.

Cor2nir,
I don't want to bring this up again (my first post), I mentioned that if the dealer offered you a little less than what you were asking for (< 5%) that you should take it. I have bought and sold so many cars in the last 5 years (ok, I am a car nut). Once I was going to buy a minivan from a private owner and I offered him $3k (I had the cash in hand and was ready to pay him on the spot), he was asking $3100. He said no and I told him that I would grap some lunch and think about it. Well during lunch I called him and said that I was not going to buy it and he offered to sell it to me for $3k. I told him never mind and that my wife and I decided not to buy it. Well he called me every week for a month and even went down to $2700 and I said that I was not interested in his van anymore.
Moral of the story is he should have taken my original offer of $3k for the car and not worry about getting the extra hundred, instead he ended up trading it in (got $1900 for it from what I heard).
and I have learned my leason the hard way on this one. I once did not trade in my car because I wanted to be closer to my asking price and the dealer offered me a little less on a trade

You had $63k and $63.5K offers from two dealers
and turned then both down becuase you wanted a few hundred bucks more, then one or both of them pulled their offers, and now you want $63k. My head is spinning.

Alright heres the deal. I had a buyer for it at the 63k and some change. I waited a week too long to get back to them and they bought a 355 Spyder. So that is why I said I am back to square. Yes I should of taken the offer but I didn't. Plus I don't really want to sell it to a dealer. The car is perfect mechanical condition I had the car totally checked out before I purchased it. Also it does not whine in 1st gear I have driven it over 1k miles and it hasn't whined at all. So please do not bring down the thread on this car. You guys have not seen the car nor driven it, if it would of been in anything less then perfect mechanical shape I would not of bought it. Let me know if you have anymore questions or concerns about the car. I know you gusy are just looking out for other Rennlisters but please don't make comments about the car unless u have driven it or seen it in person.
Thanks
Corey
