Default OT: ultimate garage/loft for the single guy??

Ok everyone, its Friday and I'm daydreaming. I have a tiny townhouse but I've always dreamed of having a small house with the entire bottom floor being the garage. I happen to come across this......
http://www.archwaypress.com/index.ph...6563c8c7253920
Maybe I'm completely insane, but something like one of these, is my dream home. mostly all garage. anyone have any ideas on construction costs or does anyone have a place like this already?

Cheers, happy Friday all.

Kyle.

Kyle,
I've been thinking about a similar house/garage as well. My boss has one, the garage is literally 2x the size of his house, it also has an upstaris living area.

Wow, a lot of great plans! I like the "CAR COLLECTORS DREAM" plan.
Thanks for the link. I'll definitely keep it for future reference.

Here is my dream house, even though they don't show pictures, read the description, a 9 car garage! The nice thing is you can't tell from the outside that there is a 9 car garage.

Do you have to be a SINGLE GUY to have this dream???

I'd love to have a loft about a HUGE garage as long as the loft has a commercial kitchen in it for me!!!!! Porsches and cooking are my passions!!!

yeah really... I'd love a 5 car garage please... with room to store a trailer, and room to have an in-ground lift and air tools.. ..guess I'm one of the rare female enthusiasts like JoAnne!!!

...except I'm not into cooking so my other demand would be a nice big sunroom/bird room for my version of kids (large parrots)...

..OH.. and a huge master bedroom with huge jacuzzi tub, seperate shower..

NOT too huge a dream.... LOL

Throw in a French Pedicure and a passion for extra curricular activities and you have just described heaven. For me anyway. Whew! I need a cold shower.

I built a double garage on my house but it was not enough so now we are moving to a house with a double garage and 7 acres of land and a barn which was built to service lorries (the previous owner had a business with a number of lorries) and an extra double garage, next to the barn - all with power within 50 yards of the house, I am in heaven!

The double garage nxt to the house houses my 993, the barn is empty apart from my convertible E46 M3 (for sale to finance the house), and the double garage next to the barn house my trials bikes which are in bits - I am looking for two lifts for the barn - Automotive heaven!

When we were looking for a new house it took 9 month to find something in the older part of Seattle that was built up over the last 50 years with a 3 car garage. We have 3 cars and they are all in the garages every nite. Where we used to live, there were many 3 car garages but they were largely filled with about $200 worth of junk. I could never figure it out. Put a $20k or more car outside in the winter with branches falling on it from the wind....

So now I want 2 more garage spaces but there is no room. I am eyeing my 92 year old neighbor and thinking of buying his old place and using the land to build a garage on. I could put the garages underneath and use the top floor as a rental to pay for it.

Hmmm...that would be nice and close. I do have a 24 x 25 shop over on another property to use for storing the track car when I get it but it won't be as close. Ahhh.. dreaming!

Ok Guys;

There is more to life than a large garage, I have a 3 car garage and thats plenty, pay enough taxes on it as it is.
What about having a nice Wife or GF to enjoy a nice glass of red with, after taking a nice spin on the Porsche...thats better than a 5 car garage, or going to a nice restaurant with the Wife or GF and putting your keys on the table making everyone else jealous coming home and parking in a simple 3 car garage but having some one to share the 993 and the 3 car garage with.
That could be a bit of vanity too... oh well thats allowed.
What about taking your son or daughter for a spin, getting an ice cream and coming back to a 3 car garage...its better than having a 5 car garage and being alone with no one to share it with.
Just my thoughts.... here is my 3 car garage

I built this building next to my home. It is 40 ft x 88 ft and has a bonus room that is 20 ft x 88 ft. I use the upstairs for storing parts, however, it can be used for a two suite guest house or an office. I designed this and I would be glad to share the plans in Autocad format as well as the costs in 2003 dollars. It will easily store 12 cars with plenty of room to work around them.

Mike

PS: That is my trusty co-pilot Hawke.

PPS: You can never have to big of a garage and it's a great place to share time with your wife, kids, and friends!! We are an assortment of gearheads!!
