I bought the 75 Euro one plus 19 Euro for shipping (still cheaper than dealers in the USA). Just want to see if it will slightly improve shift response...and I figured that since the clutch is being done in addition to multiple other mods, I might as well go for while I have easy access. Even if it's only a slight improvement...still worth the $100 or so.

 

I have option code 241 on my '95 C2. Is this the factory SSK that Gert sells or somthing else? Having no real seat time with a 993 without this option, is there any real improvement with it?

Am no expert, but PCA, tech article claims that you do not have to dimple cover, just reverse the two bushings, have looked at cars with SSK installed at the factory and there is no dimpling..........only what I have read.

 

That is what we did with my install.

 

Dimpling the cover is required only with the C4S, not the 2S. Has to do with the driveshaft and not being able to reverse the bushings mentioned in the 4S application.

BTW, I confirmed with B&M that their new shifter will NOT work with the C4S. Same issue as all the others, I assume.

I've already got the fatcory short-shifter fitted.. bought it from Carnewal...

but at only 20% shorter ! I still want something even shorter.. no pun intended !


the B&M type, does anyone know what % reduction it offers on the gear-shift ?

Got the SSK from Gert today via FedEx. Now that's what I call service! I was shocked when my mechanic told me that it arrived today. Gert is the man.

Eric - My Bad - having one of those days

 

After driving with the Gert SSK for a few months now... I am going to cut the lever 1/2 to 3/4" shorter in a couple of weeks. I also have the front adjustable rod from the Weltmister SSK so I should be able to get just the right reach along with a shorter throw. I will report how this works out.

 

BM claims 45% reduction. I'm leaning on one of those.

 

This hasn't been brought up yet...
Is anyone concerned about the added wear and tear potential from installing a short shift kit. I've always been told these things put more stress on internal transmission components; the synchros in particular.

When my gearbox is cold, I get a rough sort of feeling if I don't baby it going into 2nd gear. It's not enough to be called a 'grind', but I can sort of feel it through the shift lever.

I'd be concerned about gearbox wear.
