MYOB Marty! Where the hell have you been?

Ok gang, here's their profile: http://www.pasowine.com/profile.php?winery=42
It's also located on Hwy46.....

Marty, Is their driveway paved with adequate parking for 40+ Porsches? Can they provide us with a BBQ lunch in the $20. per range? Are they available April 30th...and isn't that the vineyard you sell your grapes to......(disclosure statement as required by federal law and me!).

Talking Hotels

The Hampton In is new, nice and clean.

For you high rollers, Villa Toscana at about $400 a night, is world class. It is located right in the Martin Weyrich vineyard property, spectacular! John Gordon, are you reading this?

Talking I confess............Tobin James Cellars does buy my grapes...

God Bless them for that. This is the only reason I may have some "juice" here, get it? They have room for lots of cars, lots of cars. In fact, they have a parking lot across the street they use for there Big Fests where 500+ people show up.

I'll see them later this week and ask if they can do something special for us. If they can, it is an option to consider.

Please note I receive NO compensation or renumeration for setting something up with Tobin James. I just love their wine, and God Bless them, they buy my grapes!

Room availabilities are next to none. The only one that had a room, sounded like a place I don't want to stay. I couldn't understand the office attendant well enough to ask price, but did get that there was a room available for the 30th...pondering other options before I book.

Yes I'm quite literate thank you...Unfortunately they are booked along with all the other winery B&B's and apparently all the hotel rooms too! There's a marathon event that weekend as referenced earlier, and that wedding. Also it's just plain spring in Paso Robles and it's beautiful there.....

I would suggest trying the beach communities of Cayucos, Cambria, or Morro Bay. To the South there's San Luis Obisbo and Pismo Beach; to the North your stuck with a slew of smaller communities with smoe small hotels scattered about. I tired to find a Villa as Pong suggested, but Hearst wasn't interested, and there wasn't anything else sizable that I could find.

Almost all the hotels that area currently booked are advising me to check back as the date draws closer as they always have a lot of cancellations. Apparently that happens a lot there....lot's of folks just book rooms well in advance then cancel...

OK I am really bummed I am not going to be there for the 2nd annual Rumble.......
Althought the weekend dates I chose are not the ones being used I will not be "SOUR GRAPES"
Here are a few ideas for lodging
http://www.chanticleervineyardbb.com
This place is a wonderful little get away in Paso run by some good friends of mine
http://www.baywoodinn.com This place is right around the corner from my house off the beaten path but well worth the drive and is about 25 min from Paso
http://www.the-carlton.com/ In Atascadaro not far from Paso
Just opened and from what I here a very nice place

And last but not least the best dining experience in San Luis Obispo County
The Park Resturant 805-545-0000
The is the resturant owned and operated by Maegen who catered our event last year it is located in San Luis Obispo and you will need reservations if anyone wants to go
I believe they have the most extensive wine list in our county and by far the most hand crafted foods availble
Wish I could be there with you guys ....theres always next year next year
So if anyone has any other questions I can help them with feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to help
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any of the above mentioned just friends with some of them and they all are wonderful down to earth people just trying to survive in this wonderful place we live

This sounds terrific. Perhaps all the SoCal guys can haul grapes up to the winery for Martin? Martin... I'm assuming you're coming, and I put you down for a party of 2.

We're up to 40 cars and 64 people... and its just February. And.... no one has posted anything on any of the others forums (that I noticed anyway). Jeepers. This is a hoot in the making.

Thanks for all of you that are tossing out ideas, and checking stuff out.

Is an 11:00am meeting time at the winery too early?

The Baywood Inn that 95993RS listed has 5 rooms available now including a 3 bedroom suite. I've stayed there and it's very nice with great bay views right across from the water. It's about a 30 minute drive to Paso Robles through some beautiful, twisty back roads....(805) 528-8888

I just called Marty's Tobin James Winery, and then I talked to Eberle again. Tobin James did not sound very interested and said they'd get back to me. The lady I spoke with was concerned with us getting in the way of their busy Saturday traffic. She actually said to me: "Bottom line, how much wine will you guys be buying". Gotta love her subtle salesmanship.....

So I called the much nicer folks at Eberle and they confirmed that they have us written down for Saturday the 30th. Vineyard tour at 11:30 or so, followed by a BBQ lunch and wine tasting in either their Cave Room(seats up to 80), or on the outdoor patio overlooking the vineyard-our choice. They want a 50% deposit, which if we say 60 @ $25.per=$1,500/2= $750. I think we have a few days to make our final decision, and I also think we should require deposits from everyone who wants to go.

Steve it all yours......

WE did the cave for dinner with the Orange Co.Porsche group...Very nice and fun...but for a picnic daytime event,I think the group would like the outside deck better...Just my 2/cents
