Oh my life! I just read what happened. I'm certainly glad you are alive. As you mentioned in your post that you were lucky she didn't t bone you at the driver door.

Take care.

CP, glad to hear that you got things resolved. Are you going over to Bob's tomorrow?

Jauder,

I was not planning to visit Bob on Friday. What's the draw? I can be tempted.

They're not rare, but not all that common either. It does only come with a slushbox but it's twin turbo 450hp and chippable to 550hp...about $60-65k for a good used one. I currently have an S6 but would have loved to have gotten an RS6 avant (the wagon version). I really like the Audi interiors and 4WD does come in handy.

Or how about an older S8? Gemballa has a supercharget package for it

David, I had a very deep involvement with Audi in 2003 and have driven both RS6 and old S8 a number of times. Let me say this - I don't like S8. It's not a well balanced car. A new A8L is head and shoulders above it (I have driven that thing at Road Atlanta, among other places). And even the old A8 was a better vehicle than S8, in my opinion (I've driven them back to back).

Now, an RS6 is a different beast. That is one car where I'm not sure I'd want a stick. I'd have to push the clutch in with both feet. So much torque, you can actually feel the chassis flex as you step on it. A fun car, but more in line with American muscle iron than any german automobile I have ever experienced. They did not sell well and are available now used for reasonable money compared to initial $85K cost 2 years ago, even though 2004 was the only official model year they were sold as new.

Finally, a good insurance claim story. I am glad that I have Allstate. The values of the these high-end cars is so subjective - good that they have a seemingly fair settlement process.

How about a Cayenne as a replacement - don't want to open a can of peppers here - but based on the other SUVs you are looking at, it might be worth a look.

Despite some of the complaints, my '04 CS has been flawless. It had a few issues that were resolved the first time.

Good luck.

Pong,

It was good to see you and Melissa at the SB BAR. I'm glad everything is working at for you with the insurance and all. But most important make sure you're physically healthy, the cars are all nice but if your aren't physically healthy you can't enjoy'em. From what you are saying about your injuries they can possibly be with you for a long time. Unfortunately we aren't young anymore so it takes a lot longer for our bodies to heal.
