Hi Dudley.

I've gotten 10 from your list plus the clutch update and fuel filter change in 2 months. . Interestingly, when I had my wiring recall done, the dealer printed the clutch lever update DIY out off of Robin's site and gave me a copy!

Nice list Dudley,

One question: how did you manage to remove the hood shocks?

I installed 993 RS hood pin and now I need to remove the shocks, I tried to "play" with them a little, just to see how hard would it be but it seems that the lower ball is PITA to pop out, any tricks?

TIA

It was easier than I thought. My shocks were labelled "964" prefix parts and you can simply pry them off of the lower mounts. When you replace them, do follow the p-car suggestions about pulling the spring out a little when manuvering them into place.

Its 20 mins with experience, 1 hour without.

DON'T DROP THE CLIPS INTO THE TRUNK!!!

FF,

I used a hemostats to remove the clips. One tip (that was probably obvious to everyone else) is to remove the fuse/relay cover on the left side. Until I did that, could not get my hand back there.

Dave,

Hemostats..?

This Finn doesn't have that in vocabulary, would you mind explaining a little..?

Thanks.

Got it!

I "google" it and found photos.

However, problem for me was to "pop" the ball out, not getting the clip (which btw is different than shown on p-car). I tried little with pretty big screwdriver but it didn't seem to come out.
I guess I just need to do it for real and not just play with it...

I've done five from that list, but plenty more that's not on the list. On pre-89 911's I've done it all. But the 993 simply needs nothing anymore, so I don't think I'll be using Robin's site for a while - the kind of problem I like to have.

Finn - I use a long thin screwdriver (Smap On 24" type) to pop the clip out. Also, I remove the Pollen filter cover for just a little better angle.

Thanks Bob,

I got the clip out, it was different than what's shown on p-car though.
It's actually the damn "ball end" that refused to pop out...
Is it supposed to come out without force once you have the clip out?

Oh, and Dave sorry for robbing your thread...

You are welcome to my thread. The ball end should come out easily once the clip is removed.
(No weight on it, right?)

Thanks Dave,

I removed ring shaped clip but maybe that wasn't it since the ball end certaqinly didn't come out easily (and yes, no weight was on it, I removed the top part first).

I need to take a better look at it, obviously just "playing" with it doesn't work...
