What is the reputation on these wheels? They look tempting. Apparently clear coat over polished centers? With a polished lip etc...That's the "technipolish" they speak of I'm thinking? If I'm going to stay with 17's this might be a choice. Any ideas guys?

I went with the race satin (anodized) finish for the centers and kept the lip polished. It looks great and cleans up easily.
Fikse's reputation is great and, from what I hear, their customer service and warranty is a cut above the rest.

Thanks Mark, but does the lip seem deeper than on other wheels of similar classic design ? Can't really tell from the pic or web pics?

It's hard to say if other wheels offer a deeper lip. I've seen some BBS RS-GT's on a Boxster that were as beautiful as my FM-10's, if not more so, and that had a killer looking lip, but the offsets are most likely different from a 993. I'm not even sure if the offsets were correct for a Boxster. You'll have to compare apples with apples ie mesh wheels on a NB with another NB and not a WB. The wheel specs that Fikse set up for me are the correct offsets for a NB.

You are right in that it's hard to compare when there are different variables that may not be common etc...I like the heck out of the Forgelines (WC3) but they don't make a 17 in. I don't think. The Fikse's look good too. We'll see...and I am still in the hunt mode etc...
Thanks for the response.

Fikse has a number of extra cost center section finishes. The standard finish, if I recall, is the Techni-Polish, which is definitely the brightest of the options. Outer rim sections are available in raw polished aluminum or an anodized finish.
Like Mark, I opted for the satin anodized centers with polished rim sections. I'm not sure that I would call them easy to clean, (P21S and a round brush for the centers, and Simichrome or Wenol Red/Blue for the rim sections) but its worth the effort when you're done.
FWIW, I've had several sets, and Fikse customer service has been exemplary, in my experience.

Thanks Tim and Lee,
I literally "get the picture" guys and they speak volumes. I ilke the shape of the recessed lug openings as well as the abudance of polished shine. I realize that I'd have some cleaning to do but since I'm driving my 993 often I'm having to do that anyway. I might as well be leaning down to clean a sharp looking wheel I like etc... I'm definitely leaning toward the Fikse product now, but I'm making myself explore a little more before I pull the trigger. Now having said that, I just made the little wifey very happy (a little early) for Valentine's Day and I could probably just go ahead and ..................

fikses are definitely known for their high quality. After reading this and the other thread you started I was wondering why you want to stick with 17"s? I would look to 18" if I were you. They look better on our cars and you will have a greater range of brake upgrade options in the future as that slippery slope continues to get steeper.

FM-10s in Technipolish is an incredible wheel. Not exactly the prettiest, but that Technipolish finish is almost like chrome w/o all the ghetto weight.
18s with the extra dose of deep dish in the rears are a perfect complement to the 993 widebody cars.
