When car is off, there is a constant hum that seems to be right behind the climate controls. Coincidentally, when I picked up from the body shop the battery was dead... body shop swears they did not leave the doors open for an extended period of time. Related? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It's normal. Small fan runs as part of climate control. It'll shut off by itself. Someone asks this question about every 6 months or so. We were actually overdue. Try searching "humming" E.g., Humming question.

I am glad I could contribute to the "dumb, didn't search before I ask" chronicles. Sorry

The hum should stop after 15-30 minutes but if it doesn't then there is more than likely a problem with your CCU and your battery will discharge over a weekend of non-use. For a quick and temporary fix you can pull the CCU out from the dash and disconnect the mini fan connector from back of the CCU. fyi. strange noise from dashboard: a 95 993 only has one (1) fuel pump and it is located below the fuel tank.
