Default Shock Bump Stops

Can anyone identify the rubber compounds that make up the Shock Bump Stops? (edit)
I assume it is not actually rubber but some form of rubber polymer? The reason for asking is, once I know the material, I can look for the best match in a high stength adhesive. Could the material be Neoprene?

My plan is to slit the bumpers, fit them to the shock in-place and then glue the rubber bumper back together.

Possible adhesives are:
3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Rubber & Gasket Adhesive 1300
3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Plastic Adhesive 4693H

I wouldn't think it would be neoprene. I used some Neoprene for leaf spring shackle bushings on my Jeep (a hard compound Neoprene), and it was very stiff. Even soft neoprenes would seem too stiff for the shock bumper. I would guess that is one of the materials that match the 4693H, but I could be completely wrong.

If you go to www.mcmastercarr.com and scroll down to raw materials, click rubber. If you read some of that stuff you can get a better idea of durometer ratings what a "shore" rating is, etc. It could be some type of soft polyurethane, but Porsche may have some super-duper special compound. I dunno?

Dave,

Are you talking about the bump stops for the Bilstein HDs? Sorry, when I first read your post I was thinking front bumper type shocks.

Dave, for that application use a GE or Dow Corning silicone glue, not an adhesive. Use cable ties or something to hold together for 24 hours. You'll never get'em apart.

I may have misunderstood some advice concerning the Bilstein HD front struts and the need for adding bump stops. I deleted a couple of my earlier posts that may have added to the confusion.
I got a call from Lou at Bilstein. Lou told me that the mono-tube struts for the C2 993, #'s VE4692 & VE4693 have internal bump stops.

"Never mind"

Dave
