If someone caused the damage by hitting a fire hydrant, then they are responsible, let them pay to have your car fixed by a Porsche dealer.

There is no way I would wait for a few days and hope that it dries up and everything works. You need to have the boxes inspected now, while there is still water present to justify the replacement!

Check under your seats. That is where the expensive stuff resides. Sounds like several of your controllers are shot. Replacing all of the electronics is going to put you in the thousands of dollars so get them done now while you know you have an insurance company that is willing to pay.

Thanks for all of the supportive concern and replies. The car is in the hands of a very capable mechanic. Mike Schatz www.schatzmotorsports.com and a master tech at Rusnak Thousand Oaks(while away at a Porsche Training) returned my call to his cell phone within minutes of my call. He was clear about what has been damaged just from my description. The Moron's insurance will handle this, I'm waiting for that process to take it's course. As to flood damage on the title, I don't think this qualifies for that as the car was never submerged. All damage was caused by water coming in through the bottom. Fortunately, the carpet, floor mats and interior stayed dry.

I will post the replaced part numbers when we get to that point.

Thought I would add this info regarding the damaged parts just to build the Rennlist data base:

99361812002 Tiptronic C/U $1,471.78
99361866610 DME C/U $2,015.30
99361815902 ABS C/U $723
99361812501 Immobilizer C/U $1,091
92861826003 Alarm C/U $383.32
91161722700 Cruise C/U $617.96
99364530302 AMP $550.63

Total including labor $8,074.83

Having his insurance cover it (pending their accepting liability): PRICELESS!

The alarm, DME, immobilizer, cruise and stereo amp are all under the front seats so it sounds like water did get into the passenger compartment....

This car has been nearly completely restored to as new. Amazing. Just needs new paint on the nose and floor mats and it's new.
