Default Cost to re-paint (non-color change)

I've done a search and couldn't come up with a clear anwser so I'll ask again. What do you all think would be a fair price to re-paint my black 993. I will not be changing colors and will be putting on my RS splitters and tail which need to be prepped as well. For those in SD who have used West Coast Specialties or Malibu Paint, what do you guys think it will run? TIA for any help.

Dan,

I just had my red India Red 993 repainted. Also had the splitters prepped, painted and mounted. My guy in San Juan Capistrano did an outstanding job. I believe you're looking at somewhere around $6,000 - $7,000.

my 2 cents is that this is too delicate a process to be looking for the best price. The objective is to look for the best job. The work that they do could have a detrimental effect on the residual value of your car. If it LOOKS resprayed people will stear clear affraid of accidents. Also, take pics of your car before, so you can document to a potential buyer that there was no accident if and when you get queries.
So look for the best available shop, and look at some of their work. If you can, take someone with a keen eye that can spot resprays (if you have any car nut friends) and look for factory look orange peel and careful work on the rubber seals (or off them I should say!).
A good body shop in the Boston area when I used to live there (mind you that was 10 years ago) would charge about $7,000 back then! Sorry I cant enlighten you on current prices, but do be very careful with your choice. Good luck and post pics!

I'm adding 18" lightweights and Bilsteins/H&Rs in the next couple weeks... will start a new thread to show off my "new" car once I get everything done!

Have you called the businesses? That way you could get an idea of a price instead of people guessing.

Thanks for the responces guys.

Richard- please do post some pics I'd love to see them.

Red- I'm planning on getting an estimate in the coming week. But it's always better (or maybe easier to take ) if you have an idea of the price range going into the estimate. BTW how do you like your 928? I'm thinking about buying one as my daily driver after I get the 993 re-painted.

Yep, 6 grand will get it done right. Just got mine back from the paint shop (had a little fender alteration imposed upon me by a bowtie bumper). 2 grand to do the front with metal reworking but the shop owner told me 6 to paint the entire car. To do it correct, they remove everything windows and all, and its that disassembly that you pay for. Just got a new windshield, and tomorrow morn., we go to the tint shop to cover up that atrium we so lovingly call 993.

I've only got about 50 miles on it so far, and I won't be driving it much over the next few months. It is undergoing a transformation. It was in rough condition, but overall, I like it. It's a bit heavy, but that's about my only complaint. You can't beat the V8 sounds and torque.
