Post Another Zaino Disciple

So long Zymol, MC Guires, Mothers ,etc, etc

Followed prescription wash with dawn ,clay bar, wash with Zaino, 3M swirl remover, zaino # 5 with ZFX Accelerator, Z6 gloss enhancer, another zaino # 5 , Z6 gloss enhancer, Zanio # 2, Z6 gloss enhancer. Best part was with the accelerator only had to wait approximately 25 minutes between coats

total time 5 hours, wife thinks i am nuts ( so what else is new) , but the car has never in the 3 years i have owned it looked this good without question. Truly looks deep and wet ,almost all swirl marks gone. Even the Stonguard front looks much better

Under cover for a few weeks then back for more coats of Z 5 ,Z6 ,Z2

I gotta get a life !!!!!!

anybody want to buy some wax from almost every other company in North America ???

how many coats do you other fanatics use ??? Any other helpful Zaino hints or recommendations GREAT PRODUCT !!!!!

Dennis,
I agree it is great stuff. I use almost all of their products, I like the tire dressing and the leather cleaner and conditioner as much as the "waxes".
For the wifes vehicle, I just do one or two coats every six months or so. For the Porsche just an extra coat every month or so. My car is silver so it doesn't need as much maintenance.

okindao,

I also just used Zaino for the first time this weekend. I didn't have as much time as you so was only able to do the wash, polish lok, and one application of Z5. The car looks great and will look even better once I get the chance to do a couple more coats.

I think I have also become a convert, but the next 6 months will be the true test.

Skip if possible could you please post some pics. I have never been a big fan of Zaino and would like to see what your hard work brought you. I have come up with my own formula for great looks over the past few years..Thanks

I just tried it a few weeks ago and was impressed with the ease of application and removal. As Skip said, time will tell how durable the wax is. I've washed it three times since and the car still feels good.

Has anyone else noticed how a Zaino application seems to allow more loose, dry road debris to cling to the area behind the rear wheels? It's almost like static cling.

This link is also pretty helpful

Zaino tips on Autopia.org

No affiliation, just love the product (19 coats thus far, though a parking lot mishap from a UK tourist version of a soccer mom is making me start over in a couple of spots)

Also, I think (haven't done enough yet to confirm) that doing a coat of Z5 about every 3-5 coats seems to bring out the shine a bit more.

Anir,
I think my race car is actually wanting me to paint her red so she won't be so jealous around Ferrari's. So I found a nice red avatar to appease her in the mean time.

96P993 -

I took some pics, but they just don't do it justice. I have only gotten the chance to do one coat of Z5, but the car looks great. I won't have a chance for more coats until after Mid Ohio this weekend.

If you like the results you get then stick with your formula. If you are looking to try something else to see how it compares then give it a shot.

If anybody else with a Silver car wants to post their zaino experiences, I'd appreciate it.

Frankly, I get a headache just listening to the list of all the steps and coats this stuff seems to take. Suddenly zymol sounds easy and quick. ;-)

But I guess if any silver car owners out there think it is clearly superior to other high quality stuff, I'll give it a whirl...er, swirl...wipe...whatever.

Bob,

I used Zaino when I had my Artic Silver Boxster. I thought Zaino did an incredible job on the color. It lasted much longer than Zymol and looked better than Blitz Wax on the metallic paint. Personally I skipped the Z5 step (it require many, many, many...you get the picture of coats to hid swirl marks) and used Mequires hand glaze as a prep stage. It worked great.

The think to remember about the coats of Zaino is how easy and quick it is. It is nothing like a traditional carnuaba wax. You use a very (and I mean very) small amount, and then basically wipe (no real effort is required) to take it off.

Bob you should have said something last night I would have filled you in on sevearl alternatives that are just as good if not better then Zaino...Start with Meguiars #9 this will take the longest time to do but is very important if you have swirls. Next would be a polish called Vanill Moose. This stuff is amazing, it goes on well and comes off pretty easy but this stuff is where the deep deep look comes from. For a wax I use PS100, this stuff goes on like butter and comes off wet. I usually do two coats of the wax. The car looks completely different when Im done. The Arena Red looks deep and wet. Needless to say this combination will work with any color but I can truly say this stuff is amazing..For a pic of my car you can go to http://www.scottwax.com/ This is where I got most of my info on waxes, polishes, etc...

Is there any place online that sells Zaino? I have been to the zaino bros website, they appear to be mail order only.

Thanks - John
