I've searched the archives - to no avail...
Is it possible to grease/lube the mechanism to remove the squeak I get when pulling on my seat belts ? or is it a "don't touch and replace it" kinda deal?
I've replaced them on an old 83, looks to be similar...$80 or so per side... But if I could grease it'd be even better... If anyone knows where and if it's Ok, let me know. Don;t want to screw up the mechanism...

Greg,
You can lube the retract mechanism with a light spray lubricant w/o worry. I would pull the belt out fully and tie it off, then spray a light silicone spray into the "squeaky" area. Just enough to stop the annoyance.
My biggest concern would be staining your belt, especially if it's other than black. Do not use a WD40 or penetrating lube, they are too oily. 3M silicone spray or a few drop of Pedros should do it.
