Post 1999 gt3. Can U believe it?

I have been looking out for a 1997 tt or 1999 gt3 in sydney and recently test drove a white gt3.I was suspicious about the sunroof(since not gt3 option). On further inspection, it turns out to be a 996 with a factory gt3 kit including seats and suspension!!

Still very impressed with it, but not happy about the misleading ad.How much performance gain can be made to a 1999 996 and what would you do.I want to use as WE driver.

If the add was deliberately misleading, I'd run away from it. You don't know what else is wrong.

Hey Fadi,

Does it look like the car was really owned/driven by the son? If so, how old is he/does it look like a thrashed "toy" for the rich boy?

There are heaps and heaps of 996's going around, and I would advise you go see the friendly guys at Scuderia Veloce Willoughby - they are AWESOME with looking after you for service post purchase.

I bought my 993 cab from Rick Damelian and have spent about 6K (ouch) repairs, until the guys at RD threw their hands up and said go see SV - best thing I ever did. They try to make everything a "warranty" repair - even when it really isn't. This will save you in the long run - trust me. As will optional extended 3yr warranty on second hand p-cars.

Oh, and the prices on 996's are about to dramatically drop soon as the new shape is released with the 993 style front - so maybe hang back.

Also, let me know if you need cheap insurance. I pay $3800/pa to insure my 993 for $130k agreed value.

Thats my experience anyhow.

Pete.

HI Flop

I was at willoughby today!!! I spoke to Anthony who was very helpful. I looked at the blue 1997 993tt , but they had already taken a deposit and don"t have another.

I was thinking of waiting for 997, but also felt that it would be a good opportunity to buy 996 OR 993tt at the right price.Do you know anyone in Sydney with a 1997 tt for sale?

i'd recommend a 993 or a MY 2000 or later 996. as i recall the MY 1999 cars have many issues that continue to plague them and consequently destroy their resale values.
