My son was in a similar accident...young girl ran a red light and my son hit her in the side. My 14 yr old daughter sufered a broken nose, but that was the extent of injuries. The girl came running out of her car, apologizing profusely for running a red light, etc. Cops came, told my wife (she went to the scene) it was the girl's fault. Two days later I get the police report and they charged my son with "proceeding through an unclear intersection". I called the police cheif, spoke with the officer...no luck.
Hope it works out better for you.

Folks,
Thanks for the memories.
Actually I came out ok with the insurance. She had Progressive and the minimum coverage required by law, so All State paid my claims and subbrogated Progressive.
I documented all the goodies and maintenance records on my M5. Plus a bunch of high asking prices (mostly out of Roundel). The adjuster was also a car fan, so I got almost $53k for the M5 in 2005. I doubt the car could actually fetch that in the open market then, but I was in no mood to argue then.
But I do look back on that day often, and realize that it was shear dumb luck that I am still alive. I could easily have been killed. If a Minicooper could T-bone a van and kill 4 inside, a blazer at speed would have been unsurvivable, M5 or not.
So thanks for being such a caring community. You folks are the best. Have a safe holiday.

On a better note your fortunate you were in as substantial a vehicle ..you can almost see the BMW
kidneys stamped in her door!
I have the same E39 M5 and love it as a DD, just changed out the engine /trans suspension and brakes
for 2500 mile units, KW's and big red brembo's...
Red lights are for running in Cali ,just look what they do to make a left turn against traffic! Bert
