Mike I'm real sad to hear ya got scared to race. I think you bit off more than you can chew. You don't have to give rennlist a dime if you feel guilty go feed the poor or help the homeless with that sorrow and pity. We all drive porsches the poor homeless hell they don't know what they might eat or if they are going to have a roof tommorrow. Mike if you do give rennlist the money I hope John D turns it around and gives it to the poor. Remember Mike the mouth is a dangerous weapon I don't accept your apology because thats not the truth to the story bottomline is you are scared to RACE!!! BTW my $$$$$ would have been on the 993 to bust your a$$ all around the track.

The thread did get a little out of hand...but not to worry. You didn't need to stage a 6 hour Enduro, a 4 hour is being staged for you this weekend. Come out to the Porsche Owners Club Tribute to Le Mans 4 Hour Enduro, this coming Saturday night. There you will see many a 996 GT3RS car as well as some 993 RSR cars. If this Enduro is like any of the others I have seen lately, the water pumpers will dominate the podium, with scarcely a 993 car in sight. As a 993 owner, I don't like this...but it seems that the air cooled cars just cannot compete.
There is one caution here, lots of the usual Big Iron will not be entered...the cars are being saved for the following weekend, California Speedway at Fontana, CA where PCA is doing a Club Race and the Grand Am series is doing one of their races, all in one weekend. If we get lucky, no 996 GT3RS cars will show up, or perhaps those that do will have poor drivers at the wheel...then possibly the 993 based cars can win!!!
I don't like the fact that the 993 cars are not competitive, but that is the way it is. It seems they can squeeze some extra HP, 400+, out of these 996 water pumpers (Their motor serial numbers begin with 964 so there is some consolation to us air cooled geeks). The 996 cars are stiffer, with a longer wheelbase and they have better aerodynamics. As said earlier, I don't like these facts, but facts are facts and that is the way of the world.
In closing, please don't slay the messenger (me); I just report what I see. If the 993 RSR cars are winning all the awards in your corner of the world, great, let us know. After posting all of the above, I am now quite depressed.
I think I need a 73 RS. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />

Wow....
For the first time - I'm a little speechless.... To Mike - simply outstanding post... To Mark, really terrific reply... To all the rest of you (well *almost* all of you), great replies....
However - I have to say, if this "race" had continued, I would have been forced to enter my track car and show you how it's done..... <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />
<img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously - great thread.. If I ever have the opportunity, pleasure and honor to meet any of you in person, beers are on me.... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

We were talking about stock street 993's and 996's, not full-on factory race cars. Stick to the subject, man.
Oh, and btw, when's lunch? I'm hungry.

Well done. I echo the sentiments and compliments everyone has given already. It does take a real man to apologize in this fashion. Hopefully we can have that beer sooner than later.
