Did anyone get around to answering the question about putting one of these kits on a C4? Is there an issue with the AWD?

Thanks,

David

Why do you think there'd be an issue with AWD? IMHO, that's the perfect platform for a S/C 993. If pAG puts in on turbos, it's good enough for an S/C. IIRC, Sachin Misra's arena red 993 is AWD and he had the TPC S/C installed.

I don't but someone had posted the question way back in the post and no one responded. The turbo is AWD so I assume there is no issue?

Cheers,

David

I don't want to devote the whole of my ownership to keeping it nice for the next guy. I've owned my '95 993 for almost five years now. I bought it when the 993s were probably at their top $. I like that attitude ...it's a shame the rest of the community doesn't feel the same. I too have thought about this stuff. All I know is I wish I had the $$$ to do extras. Right now I'm just spending money to get my car to spec. Once the leaks and little problems are resolved, maybe I'll look seriously into a SC, especially since TPC is barely 10min. away from my house. They are actually the once that resealed my last Porsche a few years back.

I looked into one of these kits very seriously. Here is my bottom line and i can even put it in one sentence.

I WANT A S.C. KIT that is a bolt on (only hand tools required) kit that is CARB legal and does not have a 7th injector.

No one yet has solution that i've found - that is for a 993. i see a ton of solutions out there for a VW and they are a lot cheaper.

My 2 cents....

Cheers,
Boris

I think as long as the product is made for a Porsche it will always carry a premium.

I'm not so sure about this. The slippery slope has claimed many around these parts.
Me, included!

I have often considered whether or not I would supercharge my car. Until there is something out there that bolts on and can be easily removed (for re-sale), and at a reasonable cost then buying the twin turbo has to be the most sound decision on balance. if the TPC kit is $6,400 and if a rebuild is needed to make it work, say for around $3,500 you are already at $9,900. If the price difference between a good Carrera and a Turbo is around $10,000, bearing in mind the good ability to resell a Turbo compared to the poor resale values of a SC equipped car, to me is a no-brainer.

I do, however understand, having slid a fair way down the slippery slope, how attached you become to the car you have spent so much time and money on. I would find buying a 993 turbo now daunting because I know I'd have to get the RSR's done and the HD shocks and so on.

I still entertain the idea, but as others have said, a neater solution (i.e. easier to install and remove) would need to be found and be tried and tested before I'd install it on my daily driver and only car.

I think the prices are a little further apart. Even a good 993 2S might fetch 50K+ if it's got low miles and is mint. A similar turbo will be mid-70's-80. So a Supercharger is less expensive, if you are not concerned with re-sale.

Sorry I wasn't sure of the prices in the US. A good C2S in the UK is around £35,000 and a turbo starts from around £45,000 as far as I can remember. But there are very few Turbos on offer at the moment in the UK.

I thought the whole point of the TPC kit was that it was a bolt on affair without work to the internals? That's what people who have done it have said.

David

That was what I understood too. But I'm still a little concerned about the Compression Ratio of the 993 motor. That's the rub. It's hard to get significant (and safe) HP gains with an SC without opening up the motor and lowering the CR
