Fellow old-guy (Paul Newman) takes 5th at Lime Rock Trans-Am
Old geezers take heart. Paul Newman, 78 years old, drives to a 5th place at Lime Rock in the Trans Am event. He's my hero, and I suspect, the hero of AARP members everywhere.
The crew always worries that Newman will expire before the car does, but nope... he made it again. Atta boy, Paul. Win one for the Geezer.

Jeez.. this makes me feel old. I grew up around auto racing at Lime Rock - every weekend we went up. My father was the Chief Starter for Northern NJ SCCA and several other regions, so we spent quite a bit of time at Lime Rock and Bridge Hampton, and even had a house where the property bordered big bend at Lime Rock (I wanted to put a toll booth up, and my father wanted salvage rights on the cars that slid off). Anyway, I remember watching Paul race his Nissan's around the track, and he wasn't so old back then... 78.. jeez...

Gotta admire him.
I remember when IROC switched to Camaros from the Carrera RS's they had been using. ABC Wide World of Sports asked Paul Newman to take a Camaro out and give them his opinions - while being transmitted live from the car. Well, Paul was truthful - after a few minutes he gave his opinion - "This thing handles like a f*cking truck!". I nearly fell out of my chair - Dad asked "What did he say????"
