PPI results back; I hope these are fixable
Just had a PPI done on a 73k mile 1995 C2 so I thought I'd post to see if anyone has comments about its major issues:
1. Missing the lower heater control slider. Is the fix as simple as sticking on a new slider? I suspect there's more to it since the PO didn't fix it.
2. Oil leak at the chain covers. Yikes! Actually, the car is under extended warranty so assuming the warranty transfers ok, then this should be covered. Otherwise, I'm told about 15 hrs plus a couple hundred in parts.
3. Bent rocker panel where the PO jacked it wrong. Here's a good excuse to install Aerokit side skirts. Will run $650 plus paint/install to cover up his mistake.
Compression test was 190-200 psi all around. Since I should be able to get the car for mid/upper $20's I think it'll be a "go"!!

Re. the interior, the PO wore a hole in the carpet with his foot, so hopefully a dead pedal will cover it. Easy fix I hope, and a good excuse for a mod.

mid/upper 20s and the rest of the PPI checks out??!!! Yikes, that's nice!! Good luck on it, Eric. Sounds like a great deal for a few bugaboos!

Yup, the rest of the PPI checks out. It's had some paint work on one side, but it was done well so I'm not too concerned with it. It'll be receiving the full royal treatment: PSS9's, TRG sways, Cobra seats, supercups, RS splitters, Aerokit rockers, a rear spoiler, etc.
And I'm already in talks to get an intercooled supercharger.

Just got off the phone with the seller and the car is MINE! Flying down to get it on Saturday!

Eric,
I was in the same situation with buying a car that needed a major repair that I assumed would be under an extended warranty. I purchased a Saab that needed new balance/timing chains. The seller purchase a transferrable extended warranty from the local dealer that did the PPI and identified the chain problem. I sent in the forms and paid the nominal tranfer fee (like $35 or something). After I had confirmation that the warranty was now in my name, I took the car to the dealer. They had to contact the warranty company to confirm the repair -- and to my suprise the warranty company required disassembly of the front cover, at my expense! It was going to be like $800 that I was on the hook for if the warranty company found a reason not to cover the repair. I quickly got the car back (before anything was done) and cashed in the warranty. In this case, I could terminate the warranty early for the remaining prorated value. That covered the cost of the parts, I fixed it myself, and felt like I was whole in the end. But it forever changed my perception of extended warranties.
Chris.

Congrats Eric! If you have Monday off (MLK), you'll have an "extra" day to enjoy the car! Sounds like a beaut. Great color combo too.
