Post Bonnet Badge - Easy to affix?

I just got back from leaving my car at the airport to see that somebody has tried to remove the bonnet badge, but only succeeded in bending it upwards. I have pushed it down but it isn't flat.

Since it is dark & late I thought I'd ask the question here first - easy to remove and beat straight, or replace. Any ideas?

I was pretty angry when I saw it but there were thankfully no scratches.

Mike, Luckily that's the only thing that happened to your car. Badge is very easy to replace. Two small nuts. Use a 1/4 drive deep socket to loosen and fasten.

Mike

Sorry to hear this . Badge is easy to remove two small nuts accessible from below, you will need a small socket. If the badge will not staighten properly replacement is at least cheap around £20 ( UK price) will get you a new one.

All the best.

Thanks Randy & Tim. I'll give it a go in the morning.

Now have you any suggestions for how I best wire it to the battery? ;-)

About a 10K µF capacitor should do it.
Edit: Sorry, this is completely irresponsible, which is why I talked my son out of it when he was driving the family wagon to High School. Besides, I have no idea if 10K is the right number.

Replacing is probally best bet as the enamel cracks easily once bent. Guess how I know? There is a high quality should be but isn't OEM like aftermarket silver/red/black badge that looks much better than the gold with some colors and wheel caps. Pelican has it on their web site.

The nuts that hold it on are supposed to be one use only - when you see the underside you'll see why. I think they were less than a $1 each.

You should be able to bend it back and with some luck the enamel may not crack. If it does it's a good excuse to get a silver badge instead.

A nice big capacitor can store enough juice for a very nasty jolt (i.e., no need to wire the badge to the battery). That's why you don't want to go poking around in high end stereo amplifiers.

It reminds me of the scene from The New Statesman (English series) when Alan B'Stard (Rik Myall) smirks to hear an "oik" getting zapped by trying the door of his Rolls-Royce Camargue.

His smugness turned to rage as a a paving slab went through the front window in response to the shock the vandal received....

Oleg,
"Hi Terry, where did this post come from??"

It was a more detailed answer to Mike's question:

Now have you any suggestions for how I best wire it to the battery? ;-)
