i'm experiencing steering wheel wiggle under heavy braking, any thoughts on a cause?

A few heavy braking runs have greatly reduced the shimmy I was experiencing. My brakes and pads are relatively new (< 6000 mi), so I didn't want to go that route...

I endorse Mark SundayDriver's evaluation of the cause and remedy. I had this on the latest set of rotors and pads installed concurrently. The shop did a light resurfacing, said they did not look that bad, and I was on my way. Also, I tried several braking runs: hard, medium, and light dragging. Those did not work.

just to resolve this thread for the benifit of future searches:
the front rotors were replaced and the the problem is gone. they were in stock and cost me 225 each plus less then an hour of labor.

Like Mark said, Hawk Blues will scrape those deposits off and cost about $125. I have used them for this purpose twice when I used to run Pagid Orange....and I have an extra set of Hawk Blues if it happens again.
