Oakland Service
Thanks-
Mike I.
A friends Boxter had 300 miles put on during
a long week-end. Other problems were a nightmare to deal with. Also, their service area/parking lot is very cramped. Door dings guaranteed.
I would recommend Stead in Walnut Creek,
a bit further but a much smaller, approachable dealer.
Non-dealer - you might check out Bauer. I don't have any experience there myself, but they seem like a good shop.
Again, its not real close to Oakland, but
Deutsche Motorsport in Concord is a very
good shop.
Kahlers in Dublin is where I take my car.

Re: The dealer on broadway...They have one long time first rate mechanic: Jeff Williams.
I have used them for warranty work (my three Porsches all came from this dealership) with Jeff doing the work. No problems.
Let me know if you need more info,
Jeff
Went there to purchase some used B&B mufflers, and had them install it. Once installed, I noticed one stood out much more than the other. I brought this up to "Lars" and he huffed that my car was in a previous wreck and my rear was off-alignment - no problems with his mufflers! How dare I suggest that (BTY rear-end never wrecked and the thought of him using such a line really proved the shop's honesty and his character...ugh)
Well, when I returned home, I removed the mufflers myself and, you guessed it, one muffler had much longer tubing (cat-to-muffler side) than the other, making one muffler stick out more than the other (wrecked rear? I don't think so..). Naturally, Bauer knew about it, because I bought the mufflers used
and he wasn't all that surprised when I called him!To say the least, I was very upset that a Porsche shop could be so sleazy. Naturally, I returned the mufflers, got my money back, and told Lars what I thought of his operation.
I'm not writing this to bash anyone, just wanted to share my negative experience with Bauer. Naturally, they will never get an ounce of business from me, nor any referrals.
"911Jeff", I'm happy you get good service with Bauer. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day, but this was one day too much.
