Default Say goodbye to my 993

My 993 looks like it's going to be totaled after my accident driving in the rain on the freeway Saturday night. I lossed control of the car when changing into the fast lane, hit the center divider, and rolled the car one time. Fortunately the car landed back on its tires and me and my girlfriend walked away without a scratch.

Thank God I didn't hit any other cars and no one ran into us. I'm hoping my insurance company gives me fair value for the car. I don't think I'll be getting another 993 anytime soon.

sorry to hear that be careful in dealing with them, they are not your friends and their job is to give you as little as possible. see how much they will give if you retain salvage rights........good luck

Jeez, Keith, I'm sorry to hear that but happy to learn that no one got hurt. Will you be staying in the 993 fold?

Keith,

Sorry to hear about your crash here in SoCal. It sounded like it could have been disasterous and I'm glad you & your GF were okay.

Where did it happen, anyway?

I'm very happy to know you and your GF are just fine. Hope things work out in your favor with the Ins. co. What's this about not getting another 993 anytime soon? Come on it wasn't the car's fault. Just kidden. Hope you change your mind and get excited about the opportunity to pick a new car, perhaps another color this time. Good luck.

yeah.... really happy you both were not hurt seriously. did both airbags go off? somethin' to say for a 9yr.old car rollin' & you both walked away. guessing you hit some water... this weather is tough w/ our rear tires esp. if they're worn @ all. not to mention no 'psm'.

good on ya keith... hope you find your way into another 993 in the not too distant future.

btw: what fwy were you on? just curious

I am sorry to hear about the accident and happy to hear that you and your GF are okay. What freeway were you on? Best of luck with the insurance.

Hey thanks for the replies!!!!

BTW, I was on the 101 FWY heading north near universal studios blvd. I rarely drive on this freeway but I've never had a problem driving in the rain before. The airbags did not go off and the car was still drivable after the accident!!!

Talking Dr. Porsche smiles down from heaven when he "read"...

your post where you wrote, "the car was still drivable after the accident!!! And you walked away, all the more reason to get another 993 car.

Not to many other cars can hit a center devider, roll once completely, and the driver can not only walk away, they can drive away.

Glad to hear you or GF were not injured.

Wow, sorry to hear of your Porsche's demise. Glad to hear you all faired no injury.
Like all others replied get ready to do battle. Prepare yourself, get condition statements from your friendly garage, car wash anyone who assisted in your Porsche's care. Pictures of your beauty after a bath & wax, all recpts. for any maintenance, magazines with 993 values and classifieds. Win the good fight! e

can't agree more... have list of all additional eq./ mods... pull some ads from the area (your zip code) of like cond. & mi. 993's. have 'em ready for reference, & feel free to let the ins. co. know you are aware of market value as well as 'nada' value... had a "total" a few years ago where i actually received more than what i could have sold the car for (in mint cond. btw)....................... hope you fare as well.

Sorry to hear of your accident, but glad this had a good outcome for you and GF. I know a couple of guys who survived this kind of accident and went out and bought the biggest truck they could. It's the other end of the accident avoidance versus accident survival spectrum. I think I would stay with my 993, but my perspective might change if I had the mega accident.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but glad you walked away. Out of curiosity, why would you not consider another 993?

Talking Glad you're OK

Glad you are OK along with your girlfriend. Flipping a car is no walk in the park. What tire were you running? I'm like you I DRIVE my 993 so rain here or there just makes me clean a little more vigorously when I pull back in the garage. 993's are made to be driven. I hope you fare well with the Ins. Co. And like they say in aviation: "Any landing you can walk away from is a good one".
