Pricing Opinion on 96 993
Hi... I am looking at a 1996 993 6-Speed with 30000 miles. It is Midnight Blue with full Supple leather interior with a dark blue dash and the white looking(name) seats. It has the Motorsound option, Supple Leather (as mentioned), 18" Turbo Look Wheels, Alpine/Porsche hifi Stereo, Full Power Seats, and is in near perfect shape. I test drove it and it is in perfect shape. How much do you think it is worth? I am thinking about buying and reselling, so what do you think I could sell it for locally (Atlanta)? I can get it for $38,000; should I go for it?

Sounds nice...but SURPRISINGLY inexpensive. PPI might provide some insight as to why (wouldn't think of buying without it). Full service history? Number of owners? As far as buying it to resell..., well I've got no insight there...never done it
Good luck.
Good luck.

Lester:
I live in Atlanta and $38,000 is a great price for a '96 with the miles you describe. I would think you could sell it for at least $44,000 if you can find a buyer. I have noticed that Jim Ellis has had the same 993s on his lot for quite a while.
The used Porsche market might be more interested in 996s right now. '99s are just coming off lease, the '02 car has revised styling and significantly more power and dealerships are probably motivated to dump off-lease ‘99s. This could artificially depress the 993 used prices or just attract potential 993 buyers to the 996. This is just a theory and probably doesn't hold water (pun intended).
Good luck with your venture and Merry Christmas.

You'll definitely want a PPI. $38K seems like a great price...maybe too great. Be cautious, but if all is as advertised, go for it. I cannot answer the resell issue, as it would never occur to me to resell a perfectly good car, and the only reason I'll get rid of mine would be for a 993TT. Other than that, have fun and....
Good luck.
