When I did some brake rotors on another car, I used black high heat barbecue paint from the hardware store. Works great... but it's not Porsche gray. The engine paint sounds like a good idea! Will have to give that a try when mine needs some freshening.

Luis,
No, the zinc dichromate plating isn't like chroming. It leaves a finish that's much like the original finish except a slightly gold color, which looks very nice. It's rust and heat resistant, even after heavy track use. Steve Weiner suggested this method to me, I believe. Here's a photo of plated rotors from my old '87 Carrera.

AK - What a difference in the wheels and rotors!
Will- Thanks for the pic. OK, I know what type of finish that is. Not bad for $40.
Thanks.

i will second the post regarding clear coating the hubs. i have done 4 993's this way. remove rotors, sand blast and clear w/hi heat paint. looks very functional and easy to maintain, no more rust or dirt sticking to the gray primer.
also while in there use some paint to touch up the caliper
clean the back of the wheels, wipe down the wheel wells and you will be proud!
