Question 993 cup valve clearance

I have decided to tackle the valve job myself on the cup car and have ordered the tool to do it, including spare blades... Anyway, it appears that on street enginers (964 and earlier) the tolerance for inlet and exhaust valves was the same (.1mm). Does anyone know if this is also the case on the cup car?

J-M:

I can tell you that on my 2000 GT3-Cup (before you correct me, it has a MY 2000 motor) technical manual gives me the following:

Intake .13 to .15 mm

Exhaust .18 to .20 mm

I don't know if these numbers are good for air cooled cars or not. I would check with Gordon Friedman at Autometrics Motorsports. (842) 763-6740. He is one of the experts. I looked in the 993 service manual for the answer thinking that the RS would be listed. After looking, I remembered that the RS used hydrolic lifters like the series production car.

Merry Christmas,

Hank

Thanks my friend.

I will call Gordon but I assume that they are the same as there is only one tool in the Porsche tool book and it has only 1 blade... That argument doesn't hold water with your car though....
Anyway, I'll call and post in case someone else is interested
Merry X-mas to you too. I'm leaving today to Belgium and will be back on Jan 2.
Can't wait to see your car with the skirts etc...

Gordon e-mailed me and the answers are:

0.1mm for intake
0.15mm for exhaust

Thought I'd post in case anyone was interested
