Bill,
too funny, wife and I were talking about the same thing. She say's 'who about a muscle car' or a new '997'.
We'll see.

No, but we are in the same support group. I'm at the "basic suspension mods" stage. Next on to "expensive new wheels."

You better watch who you tell this to! If you buy anything around here, you might wanna do it quietly. Good luck with the car search

Bill , Polar silver was not my first choice of color anyway. I've got a wholesale book that only goes back to 98 and 98 C4S in excellent condition is only 38k. I'm just not going to pay 10k+ for a car. There are too many other things to spend money on.

My brother has got me thinking of street rods since he owns 4. He needs a bigger driveway and garage.

Thanks, I just make sure I don't rat out my sources.

Love the Les Paul avatar BTW - the 993 of electric guitars.

Anyone dealed with TruSpeed before? They have quite a few 993s listed on ebay. I am about 300 miles away from So. Cal so can't really drive down and take a look for each one of them.

I was also in search of a 993... was close to get it over with a Boxster S but PPI didn't check out. Maybe that's destiny huh?

There are 2 potential cars at teh top of the classifieds right now. A blue on in TX and a white one in VA, if I recall correctly. One has an ask of 35, the other 33, I think. They are Rennlist cars, too. Why not look at them?

Search and you will find a few who have bought from them. I haven't.

All I can say is "its worth the wait" which is what people kept saying over and over as I complained and even ticked off a few people here who didn't want to read my whining (even though I openly said I was!) Hang in there, the right car WILL surface. I bought a car that had exactly what I wanted after nearly a year of searching. The real irony to the story is that the car I finally bought cost less than a number of bone stock ones I had seen advertised, and it was extremely clean and well cared for with reasonable miles. I think that the 993 search is like trying to find the right woman, don't try too hard or put a timeframe on it or that which you cannot control will drive you crazy (trust me I've been there). We will all look forward to seeing some pics of your new car when you get it.

Bill, IMO you have to look at a 993 not as competition to a newer car like the 996 but a different animal altogether...more like a 356 -- an old car with all the charm that entails, but one that still performs well enough by today's standards to be enjoyable to drive regularly, even every day if you want.

The 993 is the last generation to be built the old way...it's not a throwaway car, it's a car you can keep. The newer models, though extremely nice when new, are meant to be purchased, driven like regular cars day to day, then, when the warranty runs out, traded in on a new model. They aren't built the same way and can't be fixed the same way. They are not keepers for the long term -- too complex, too much plastic.

Depends on the use you plan. If it's your everyday ride that you'll keep a couple of years then get something else, either 993 or 996 will be fine, find one you like and buy it. If you want a keeper that you'll be able to bring to Porsche Club events 10 or 20 or whenever years from now but still want a real performance car, go will the 993. It will be revered forever as the last of an era.

Every new generation of Porsche performs better but there is more to it than that if you want a keeper.

Yes, the Tx one is especially nice

Don't worry, guys. I'm hanging in there. In fact, I've got a PPI going on right now on a very low-mileage C4S. Everything looks real good at this point so I'll keep everyone posted.

Robert...you have agreat looking car! A little lower mileage and I'd have given you a call

So Bill, tell us more! What color C4S are you looking into? Good luck with it!

Bill-

We all have our hang-ups (mileage, color, options, etc.), mine was LOW mileage because, like you, I wanted to drive it! It took me 8 months but I found my car, at my mileage (25k), at below your target price. Search on!!!

Bill: If the C4S doesn't work out, go check out www.holtmotorsports.com if you haven't already. He has one of the best independant dealer reputations here on Rennlist, and always has very nice cars. The one criticism has been that his prices are a bit high, but I would think you should be able to pick up a very nice 95-96 NB for less than $40.

(No affiliation, but I've never read a bad comment about any dealings with him and I personally visited his showroom and looked over some possible cars. Would have purchased from him if I hadn't already found mine.)
