Where did you mount yours? It isn't clear to me if the antenna needs to be inside or outside the car. Anyone mount it to the underside of your hood and get good reception?
The Black Boxes too...where's you put them...the cable from the head unit in't long enough to reach the adapter box under the pass seat...
thanks

JohnJL,
I have a Alpine head with XM built in so I did not have to stuff the Black Box. I did mount the antenna on the rear speaker shelf (inside the car), centered, far back, and as close to the glass. I used double-sided foam tape to hold it in place. I was running wires for sub's, installing new and better rear speakers so running the wire was not a problem.
I get great reception, can hardly see it. I love not having commercials!!
Good Luck!

Same as mr_bock, my antenna for Sirius is between the rear speakers on the rear deck lid. Love satellite radio, such great choices in music and no whiney commercials. Enjoy!!

Thanks!
I was able to fit the Alpine XM adapter box inside the transmission tunnel, route the wires back in the tunnel and come out next to the seat...all stealth.
I have to re-run my sub wires in back, so I'll put the antenna wire in with those up behind the seat too....
thanks!

By now you know the antenna needs to have access to the sky. If it wil work on the rear package shelf...picking up the signal through the glass, that will be good for me. I just got a Serius for Christmas...wow, what an incredible product. I have a Sirius Boom Box for my office.

So the antenna won't work well from inside the trunk/bonnet/front hatch? 'cause the instructions say the antenna should be placed on bare metal...the trunk would be the most available piece, hidden, but the antena would not have direct sky exposure....

Glad to hear you guys got good reception with antenna inside on rear shelf. Everything I read on XM/Sirius sites says mount outside on metal and away from glass. That would have made DIY wiring much more difficult.
Since it has line of sight to satellite and the signal has already travelled couple hundred miles, I wonder what the big deal with not being behind glass is?

Mine works well. I've posted this pic probably 5 times. I could have told you to do a search and be a judgemental *** but it took me just as much time to actually help....

I tried running a search and came up with lots of results. But the thread I was looking for was months and months ago...I remember someone put their antenna on the UNDERSIDE of their rear deck. Anyone remember that thread ??
