There is an online calculator that will do those kinds of calculations. See this:

I also bought a $300 chip before I found Steve. The one I had allowed the engine to over rev by 800 RPM. I returned it and called Steve.

I installed Steve's Rennsportsystems (GIAC) chip this week and drove the car for the first time this morning. I could notice a modest increase in torque and throttle response, mostly between 3-5K. Above that, I haven't owned the car enough to discern a difference.

More importantly, I'll vouch for Steve's helpfulness and accessability. Twice I called him ~ 7:00 his time and he was always immediately available and willing to help. He never seemed rushed.

I'm happy, thanks Steve.

"Did you by any chance benchmark your car before and after? The "Butt Dynamometer" is notoriously innaccurate, for a myriad of reasons." - 914und993 -

That's the key which most ignore or forget (conveniently, so as not to feel bad about the expenditure).

Check out this web site (www.andial.com) on the FAQ page, Question #2, as this is most applicable
to the 964/993.

I took mine out today for a 3 hour "sporty" ride and the Rennsportsystem chip...I am still happy with it.

Techron seems to help marginally too.

Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to install a Rennsportsystem chip in a 98 C2S? How much risk to the engine is there when installing a chip? I use only 93 octane unleaded now so there would be no fuel change. The car's mileage is less than 15K and is only used for sunny days and no track time. Is a chip worth the cost and effort? Can anyone tell me the cost of a Rennsportsystem chip?

Thanks,

Chris

Not sure about Steve's 'chip', but I will be happy to provide feedback on a '98 C2S w/ an Andial 3.8l.
The car arrives tomorrow, I hope to have some reviews and feedback in a week or so.
I hope I can sleep.

As many others on this board can attest to - Steve's chip has absolutely no configuration problems in '97 and later obdII models. I am extremely happy with mine. Havn't had any CEL issues due to the reflash since I had it done a year ago. Better throttle response across the rpm range. Thanks Steve!
