As I used Matt's OEM DME, I did not need to deal with immobilizer issues, I simply reprogrammed his ECU to match the octane availability in his area.

One deals with immobilizer codes by:

1) Turning it off in the software
2) Having the Dealer reprogram codes in a replacement ECU
3) Purchasing a replacement ECU without the immobilizer.

Steve - so if I 'borrow' his DME, I'd just use his immobilizer keyfob with my key to run the car?

You would also need the immobilizer module next to the ECU that receives the RF signal from the keyfob.
