993 cab
Hi
Looking for my next upgrade from 964 to 993, wife loves the cab but i am not to sure. I like the c4s, was this ever made in Cabrio. What would my options be for getting hold of a widebodied Cab.
Thanks

Rob - the C4 Cabs are quite nice - you should go drive a few. The 993s by definition are wider in all models than prior cars. When I traded my 87 Coupe in for the 993 it took me a while to get used to the wide rear of the 993 when backing into my garage (even without the extra few inches the S versions add).
Rob,
I was undecided as well and went with the cab. I'm very happy with my decision. Only drawbacks are:
- Rear speakers are smaller
- Plastic rear window is delicate
- Roll bar required for many track events
- Middle-aged women in mini vans follow me around town...
Positives:
- Unmatched open-air motoring experience
- Cabriolet quality is exquisite
- Middle-aged women in mini vans follow me around town...

Oh Matt...
That's a beautiful car! Heck, I might follow you around! Matter of fact, if you see a middle-aged
woman in a white 964 cab or a pewter Chevy S10, it's probably me.
-- Melissa (mumbling to herself, "I'm not middle aged, am I? Is 38 middle aged? No wait, I'm only 37....")
PS Where was the pic taken? It kind of looks like the hills by Stanford, but it also kind of looks like the East Foothills in SJ.

Didn't you do the new member PCA drive with your wife?
Oh great, ruin my morning AND get me in trouble, all in one post.

PS Seriously, though, Tom & Matt, are you members of the PCA Golden Gate Region? Are you planning to do any of the events next year?

Melissa: Yes. I know Matt is too because of the new member "drive to nowhere" - you don't forget a license plate like that!
I was able to convince my wife that we had to buy the 993 because it's a cab and she loves it. She's more interested in rallies, so I'm sure we'll try one or two next year.
I'm an adrenaline junkie - cars, mountain biking, skiing - anything fast and on the edge. I want to go to skippy school in Feb and then add a roll bar and 5 point belts to allow DE. I'm not sure that's going to happen so soon, but I do want to try a couple of autocrosses.

YES! I am the GGR PCA member who participated in the "drive to nowhere" with my S.O. (significant other, a.k.a. wife Sonia).
She's well aware of the minivan problem (SUV's too) because she's seen them follow me up to the garage door!
We wanted "Sorry I'm Married" as a vanity plate but state of CA limits us to 7 letters!
The picture was taken at Santa Teresa Park in South San Jose, just minutes from my house. Here's another one with my wife and her "twin". Good fun, all of it!
No - She doesn't read Rennlist but you might find her prowling the Miata owners site.

Matt,
Loved the second pic -- thanks for the chuckle!
Perhaps I'll see the both of you at a NASA autocross at Marina. (That way the Miata can come out & play too!)
Tom,
Hope to see you at an autocross next year as well.

Is she the driver of the minivan (does she read rennlist)?
