Not meaning to hijack the thread, but while we're on it, I'd love to know if anyone has a secret home remedy for dissolving disc brake dust. There are no decent one step wheel cleaning products available here in Oz. It would be handy to have a solution I could make up myself, and just spray it on, and voila, the dust dissolves. Too much trouble having to take the wheels off all the time to get all the black dust off the inside of the wheels.... ![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

I use Suzuki Motorcycle cleaner, kinda like s100 or p21? non caustic (won't degrade aluminum).
It is not "voila" but if you keep after keeping things clean it does a pretty good job! e

I took off all four wheels and Rejexed them to within an inch of their lives and then I use P21 wheel cleaner and a standard sharp spray from the hose and it's pretty close to Voila. I do think it's a heck of a lot easier to do them each wash, you let it build up and not so Voila.

I just use car wax of any flavor, just get them really clean before hand. Dust washes off pretty easy. Actually night and day easier than before waxing. Now I just need to wax my fenderwells

Sonax makes a very effective wheel cleaner, significantly better than P21 Gel in my experience and a new favorite on Autopia. Wouldn't use Simple Green as it may etch your wheels (wrong pH).

Guys,
For alloy wheel cleaning I use a product called "Carbon-X". It is a MIL spec cleaner that is used in aviation to remove exhaust stains, fuel deposits, oil and grease from painted aircraft finishes. It is safe and tested for ALL painted surfaces AND aluminum, magnesium, titanium, etc. Any exotic metal or alloy. It can be purchased in 1 gallon containers and is diluted 20:1. I bought a gallon two years ago when I bought my car and still have not used it all. Carbon-X works great on my TT wheels. I spray it on, let it soak for a minute then hose it off or use an old soapy sponge with hot water. This is the only product to use on the wheel and brakes, IMO.
I purchase Carbon-X t from Sporty's Pilot Shop on-line. It is available there in 1 gallon containers for $15.95. I've never seen it promoted in any industrial catalogs, but probably any aviation supply house would have it available.
No affiliation with Sporty's, etc., but their service is first rate. Small company, but hands down the BEST catalog store I've ever dealt with

I have used P21s, Sonax and Eagle 1 in the past. Will give this stuff a try.

I take my car regularly, weekly, daily or as needed, to a local self serve car wash. I use the presoak on the entire car and wheels and then power wash it off. I then towel dry the car and wipe the wheels. Occasionally I may have to use a littlle elbow grease on the front wheels, but I normally spend no more than 20 minutes washing and drying the ouside of my car(s). Once a year I use a carnabu wax on the car and wheels.

I have used the Quick & Easy wash as recommended by Autopia.com. Just spray it on and the brake dust wipes right off. Worked much better than Simply Green.
