Default WTB 993 CD Holder

I've done several searches on the 993 board here (including,Goggle, HotBot ect.). I'd like to find a CD holder that replaces the change tray in my 993 coupe. I belive there were two versions one held 5 CD's and the other held 8???? Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction......I would prefer the 8 CD version. As always, many thanks!!!

Hi Steve,

The price on this thing is insane--something around $300, IIRC. Also, some owners who have the tray say that it is actually in the way of one's elbow when shifting, and is a minor annoyance.

That said, if you want one, they are available through Pelican Parts.

Bobby....WOW, I had no idea something like that would cost so much. I guess it's one of those Porsche type things. I'm not complaining (maybe I am), I just expected they would cost far less.

Rob...I was really looking for the 8 CD version, if I cant find one and someone doesn't pick yours up I'll PM you in a few days and maybe we could get together on the price.

I'm now a little concerned about what BobbyT mentioned regarding the CD's getting in the way of shifting....Anyone else have any thoughts/experiences on the subject.

I replaced absolutely useless casette holder with this OEM 5 CD-holder. Yes, you can hit it with your elbow occasionally, if you are used to have arm support in the center.
Never found it getting into the way of shifting, though. But I have manual transmission, it might be different with tiptronic.

Also, with short shift kit you raise the shift **** even higher, bringing it closer to the steering wheel(which I love), even farther from the CD holder.

I had the 5-disc and upgraded to the 8-disc several years ago after a long search. They do get in the way on occasion.
The 8-disc is more of a hassle in as much as when I do hit it with my elbow when shifting, it pops a few of the drawers open.
This didn't happen with the five disc, but the five disc hold fewer CDs (DUH) and tends to scratch the discs when they slide in and out of the slots.
Hitting the unit while shifting happens rarely for me, but it does happen....
