Fantastic. Now I don't have to pay to have the "clicking" locks replaced. Top hasn't popped open yet but everytime I close it and the right lock clicks repeatedly I know I'm on borrowed time....

Just called the local dealer. Claims no word from Porsche yet about any recall on 993 cabs.

Has anyone had success with a dealer related to this yet?

PCNA doesn't have any info on this as of 3 days ago and, obviously, neither do the dealers. On the other hand, it sounds like AG meant a worldwide recall. Read this: http://www2.autospies.com/article/in...articleId=3793
Oh, I loved the last paragraph

Default What kind of game is PCNA playing?

The recall was discussed on their U.S. website for several weeks. Many US news outlets mentioned it in press releases, and they don't know anything about it?

Called my local dealer last Friday.

Funnily enough, they had *just* received notification of the recall that morning!!! They were even more suprised I knew about it!!

Told to wait a couple of weeks as they'd have to get parts in, and they'd have a better idea then about the issue/process etc and be able to schedule a time, probably a month from now.

At least it's moving forward.....

Clive.

Ah, Clive, that's very good news.

Now they need to get new motors into stock as well, before we start bringing cars in, otherwise we will need two trips.

Mike... two trips?

IIRC they're only going to replace the two front securing motors (the one's that latch the top down).

I don't believe that they're replacing the (rear mounted) drive motors?!?

However if you can say that "cause and effect" of the top popping open resulted in a failure of your drive motor, then have at it!

Let us all know how you get on...

Clive.

Clive, by two trips I mean one for cheking that you need the latching motor replaced and one to go in and do it (after they find that they don't have the right motors in stock). I'm pretty sure it'll take a fair bit of time for them to receive the new motors. It is my understanding, that they will replace the existing latch motors with a different part number (beefier gear inside).

As far as cause and effect, I'll push for them to have my side transmission replaced. We'll see what they say. My top motors in the back are working, but the driver's side tranny is dead. Interestingly, it also ripped out the retaining nut that held it to the body, so it's going to be fun screwing it back in. This is, btw, not a singular issue. Joe here in Boston has teh same problem with his side tranny mounts.

I too had the same problem with one of the tranny mounts on the passenger side, there really is no way to get to the nut. I used an insert and it appears to work fairly well.
Keep us posted on the tranny replacement.

LAT, could you describe the insert?
