Lightbulb Clutch fluid (blood letting) today - Brown fluid!

The brakes/clutch share the fluid reservoir, but the clutch does not allow the fluid back into the brake "system"...

I bled my brakes yesterday and the amber fluid was amber. I bled my clutch today and the amber fluid was almost black! It took over 300ml to get black fluid to go clear.

My 1998 993-C2S has about 26K miles and obviously hasn't had a clutch bleeding to date. Based on my observations, it should be done every 15K miles or more often.

Like my early 964, the 993 2wheel drive (normally aspirated) shares the brake fluid reservoir, so I replaced the stock fluid with ATE Super Blue (and alternate with ATE Type 200 (Amber color).

Based on these findings, the clutch will use the brake fluid, but never pump it back into the "system", hence the dirty color only in the clutch, not in the brake system.

Food for thought. Comments?
Have a great week,
ChrisK
