I just came across a car that looks rather interesting - however, after reading the CARFAX report, I'm a bit confused...either I'm reading this really wrong or there appears to be some issues regarding odomotor mileage.

My confusion is in the area indicating the odometer reading of 33 - is the report indicating that the reading was taken on 09/22/1997 and entered into the CARFAX system on 08/31/2000. Or,.....

Can someone take a look at this and tell me what his is indicating?

Rick,

After looking at the Carfax I would agree with your interpretation. The reading was taken in '97, but not recorded until 2000. I don't know why this happens, but have seen it on other reports. Also, is this a one owner car? Strangely, even through there were multiple titles issued, they were all the same title number. Now maybe FL does it that way, but somehow I doubt it.

Florida must do something odd with the titles
and recording mileage. My carfax report showed
4 entries over 2 years with the same title number.
One of the entries was a lower mileage reading
at a later date of entry which raised a flag in the carfax program. Also, fwiw, Carfax data is only as accurate as the data entry clerk that is
inputting it. I have seen a mileage error that I knew was false because I sold a car to a friend who sold it back to me 6 months later. Carfax reported lower mileage when I bought it back.
