Alignment shop tips???
I "just" got done R&R'ing my suspension to install a set of H&R springs.
I followed the article on Robin's site (Thanks ROBIN!) and everything went extremely well. In one day, I removed everything, replaced the springs, painted my calipers with an airbrush (worked fantastic) and primered and painted the hubs of the rotors (they were rusty).
I am very pleased with the results. I was suprised how much the H&R springs lowered the car. It'll take some getting used to.
Anyhow, When I replaced the front struts, I maxed out the camber to keep both sides even. The rears I indexed the toe adjustment and think I got it real close to where it was.
When I took it for a drive the steering is definately different. The increased camber made it very twitchy.
So, I need to find an alignment shop that can "competantly" handle a 993.
Problem is, I live in GREAT FALLS, MT (Military) and there are only a few chain brake/alignment shops here.
I need advice. There is a Commercial Tire, Big-O-Tire and a few others.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

P.S. Check it out...

It depends but if you want to maximize the use out of your new suspension, i'd go for a custom alignment. You would want to use an alignment shop that uses a HUNTER machine. I think it's called hunter...but it's a special top of the line machine made for accurate alignment and i'm not 100% sure if those shops use it.
Then it depends on how aggressive you want to go, but I went with the RS alignment specs, don't really remember what they were but the shop i used already knew them by heart.

Leland:
As you probably now know, the 993 is VERY sensitive about alignment and damned few shops can do these cars properly, even with the proper equipment. These things do NOT suffer foolks in this regard and anyone doing a proper job of this needs the factory kinematic toe tool to get that critical measurement right.
Failure to do so results in a car that feels like one end is on pavement and the back end on gravel.
I do not know anyone in GF but my buddy Dave Cooley who lives there might. He's done a lot of Porsche work over the years and he has some 993 clients. Send him a note at mtcarrera@sofast.net and tell him that you talked with me.
He might have a suggestion,..............

Christ, you know DAVE?
I was going to email him to see if he had any ideas.
How neat is that. I am going to be chasing him and his 928 around the Lewistown track in May.
Thanks for the imput.
This is going to to be a PITA.

Drive out here to Seattle! There is a great shop that knows their stuff. They totally transformed my car!
Drive that far for an alignment....Heck, I drive to Montana to DRIVE!!!!!!! It must be great to have some open roads without radar cops in every place to give tickets where it generates the most money but has nothing to do with safety. Grrrrr!!!!!

Any particular reason you don't do wine and cheese? (per your Avatar)
Just wondering.
Actually I'm a big fan of cheese. Just not when it comes to the PCA. My old region (which shall remain anonymous) was prone to planning wine sampling trips and golf days waaaaay before they even attempted to plan an autocross. Me and a few buddies coined them the "wine and cheese" crowd. Or "fur coat" owners... but I couldn't draw a fur coat.
...hence ...the wine and cheese.
I hope I didn't offend you (for the record I have no problems with vinyard owners and dairy products)
Steve, I may be driving to Seattle in the spring if I can't find a good shop here. John Walkers Workshop comes to mind.
Or go to Portland and visit S.W.
Cheers...

Go ahead and e-mail him. If he doesn't know anyone locally who has the correct equipment & experience to align your car properly, you'd best get ready for a road trip,........

PITA is right, but well worth the effort.
