I just replace my battery with an Optiam. Everything went really smooth, it fit perfectly. So, I'm following my wife this morning and noticed that the right tail/stop light wasn't working. Easy fix, I thought. Went and bought a replacement bulb, put it in, and it still didn't work. I switched bulbs, it still didn't work. I wonder if I knocked a relay loose or something? Its odd because all the other lights work, except for that one. Any advice would be appreciated.
Funny you mention it,
I had the same exact problem today.. The rear brake light was not working. I just unscrewed it with a phillips head screwdriver and tightened the connection by hand.
It works fine now.
Hope your fix is as easy as mine..

Hmm... mine's been doing this for months (only mine is the left side). The bulb is not burnt out, but if I removed the bulb and replace it (with the same bulb, not a new one), it begins to work... for a little while. In the dark, I notice that the light isn't completely out. It's very dim...
I had a similar problem on my wife's Mercedes. The bulb did not look burned out, and the filament looked whole. On close inspection, the filament had a break in it but the bulb still burned sometimes.

Thanks, Terry. I'll try a new bulb, and see if it works for more than a little while.
Ok, that was easy. After trying several things, I finally got it working again. First, I noticed the replacement bulbs they gave me were the wrong type (ahhhh). So, I cleaned up the connection points on the old bulb (it was filthy by the way) and twisted it back in. Bingo, it worked. I guess the two points on the bottom of bulb just got dirty and werent making a good connection. I wish everything was this easy to fix.
This is a common problem & I've had it on 3 different 911's (especially if you jetwash your car).
I am regularly having to unscrew the right rear cluster, remove the bulb, scrape the bulb contacts on the ground to roughen them up, and then put it all back together.
It takes me about three minutes but If I'm in a suit it usually gets a few stares from Swiss people (who rarely fix their own cars) who think I've slightly "lost it"
