Thanks Boris,

I better call some of the dealers and see who has them in good price, that way, it should be 100% sure they're OEM.

I asked the price because I just received rotors and brake pads from a P-car dealer in OR. I can't remember the exact price it was something to the effect of $108 for the fronts and $86 for the rears (non big reds).

Brian,

That price sounds very competive, no need for trying to find independet parts seller when Dealers sell them this price.

My guess is the dealer is Sunset. I had a mediocore experience with them. I ordered some belts from them and their price was good but then they tacked on a $5 charge for handling and another $7 or so for shipping. They sent it in a UPS envelope that cost less than $5 to ship. This kind of crap pisses me off, low prices but they make it up in shipping charges.

Suncoast in FL. only charges the actual shipping cost.

It was Sunset. I am not sure about that handling and shipping charge stuff. I will have to look at the bill. I ordered a bunch of stuff and I just got it yesterday. I haven't a chance to go over things completely. I will let you know my thoughts.

I have the Zimmerman rotors from Vertex on my 993. Put them on a year ago, no problems. Yes, the center hubs rusted. I faded my brakes in each session this past weekend at Mid Ohio, so I was heatin' them up pretty good. No warping, and I don't think there are any cracks. I'll check closer once I pull off the Feroda pads and go back to stock pads. I paid $85 and $89 (L vs R) for the fronts.

I've also dealt with Sunset - their prices were better than Suncoast. It was a large shipment, so shipping cost was negligible. I didn't even check to see if they were charging handling fees. But even on small items, Gert's prices rule.

Remember, if anyone has used rotors they're getting ready to throw away, I'll pay for shipping if you will send them to me.

By the way, Hal, I haven't forgotten about you. I have a reminder set up on my cell phone for tonight...

Sunset in Oregon tacks on 15% over dealer cost (appears as ZZZ-HANDLING on your invoice, says so in their advertisements). For some items you win big time, for others your better off elsewhere.
Brian, what were your shipping charges? I paid $46.00 for discs and pads from Oregon to Massachusetts. Seems kinda high except that the boxed weighed a ton. A heater blower cost me $9.19 to ship, two side mirrors(housing/etc.) were $12.

I went home at lunch and got my invoice. Here is an update on the price of the rotors I bought.

Sunset sells at cost + 15% + shipping. The rotors were quoted to me at $108.93 and $85.87, front and back respectively when I inquired via email. My invoice list the rotors as $94.72 and $71.67 respectively. There is a “handling” charge at the bottom of the invoice. The handling charge is 15% of the cost of all the parts I ordered added together. So basically the cost of the rotors was $108.93 and $85.87, front and back respectively with no handling charge.

The shipping on my order was $58.98 from OR to IN. It came in two boxes that easily weighed over 45 lbs. each (I ordered more than just rotors and pads so the shipping really wasn't anything compared to what I saved).

Sorry to repeat some of the info. I just realized that others had responded with the cost + 15% policy of Sunset.

AJ you can have my rotors when I am done. I probably won't get to the project for a month or so. Consider one of my rotors from Dan so that he can get his clock. I can even deliver them.
