Default HELP! Which one???

Hi everyone. 1st post here. I'm going mad and am in need of help deciding...

option 1: an Ocean blue (grey leather, normal seats) '98 Carrera 4 (narrow body), Porsche sports exhaust.

option 2: a Zenith blue (black leather, sports seats) '97 Targa (manual)

Both with identical mileage and in virtually pristine condition with complete service history. Same price.

It will be a weekend driver, but the weather here is probably 50/50 most of the time. Hoping to do some nice road trips... but probably no track days.

WHICH ONE?? I'm losing sleep at night, and it's driving me crazy! Any pros/cons to each one? Which one should I go for? They seem like 2 totally different cars... each appealing to me in so many different ways. Unfortunately I can't have both! Also, which do you think will hold it's value better over the next 3-5 years?

Muchos gracias for your help...

First off, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you.

If these are selling for the same price, then the '98 is DEFINITELY the better value, and will therefore hold its value better. I believe your description is a bit off: the '98 should be a C4S (widebody) while the '97 Targa is a "narrow" body. With the C4S, you'll get the AWD and turbo brakes. The '98 will always have the mystique associated with the last year of 993 production. Unless you really prefer black interior and Targa, I'd say definitely the '98 C4S for the same price.

I think the Targa is likely to hold its value better as there were very few. I'm also partial to the 2WD, but I like the look of the coupe better. I think it's really going to be your personal decision. If the weather isn't great, the C4 has an advantage, although tires matter more than AWD, IMHO. They both sound very pretty. There is no way to make wrong decision here

welcome to Rennlist! You've come to the right place

While they are both great cars, go drive both again. Just be sure to have a PPI done before opening the checkbook.

Most of all, have fun while 'hunting'!

Nope - this is a '98 (W-chassis) narrow body C4 which was sold here in Europe until the end of the 993s... If it were a C4S - no doubt, there would be no confusion!
